About Me
PLEASE READ:
1) Please send personalised messages. Any non-personal request will be only answered with a simple "No". Couchsurf exists to meet new friends, not just to save money.
2) Don't tell me how many countries you visited in your request, as if it was some kind of achievement. If you see the world as a checklist, I prefer that you don't put a check at my place.

Hi,
I'm portuguese, born in 1992, currently living in Barcelona. I am a medical doctor and I'm doing my PhD in Public Health.
I was born in Coimbra, a small college city in the center of Portugal. I also lived in Lisbon, Barcelona and Manaus.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm more interested in travelling to meet people than to photo touristic sites.
Interests
I dedicate my life to the health of Indigenous Peoples. The interests below remain but are more from previous versions of my profile:)
One of the greatest interests in my life, and also one of the most time-spending, is music. Since 2010 I work in Rádio Universidade de Coimbra (RUC), a college independent radio. RUC has been a great school for me, constantly presenting me new and revoltionary music, from pre-Bachian era to the latest hip-hop act, digging all genres, and defying me to gain new objectives, be creative and overcome obstacles. I already did programmes of rock, pop, classical music, world, afro beat, and some more conceptual.

Besides I'm always deeply interested in all kinds of art forms. Getting lost on a museum, spending hours in front of a painting or of a sculpture, devour books, and getting to know history, other cultures, other sciences, and a bit of general everything.
But, most of all, my main interest is to meet new people and not to waste the opportunity of learning with them.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen from the krautrock of Can, to the Zappa's experimentations, the Boards of Canada's unique world, the Sonic Youth's constant riot, the warm music of Lee Perry and the jamaican dubmasters, the lost princes like Gary Wilson, the contagious Fela Kuti, the hypnotic voice of Bob Dylan, the moveable feast of Talking Heads and their heirs LCD Soundsystem, the frenzyness of John Zorn, and many many many more (hopefully reaching the infinite).
Life without books would be difficult. Some of my favourite writers are: Proust, Pessoa, Pavese, Borges, Bolaño, Guimarães Rosa.. I also love poetry, specially portuguese one from the XX century.
As for cinema, always around Pasolini, Paulo Rocha, Godard, Nicholas Ray, Straub/Huillet, Chris Marker, Glauber Rocha, and company...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spending two months with a five people team and a small canoe working with Machiguenga villages in the Peruvian Amazon.
Entering deep into the Malaysian rainforest alone with a guide from the Batek indigenous community for a 30km trek full of elephant, tiger and sun bear traces.
Having worked with Indigenous communities in Peru, Brazil, Cameroon and Indonesia.
Travelling around São Tomé e Príncipe and Cape Verde to conduct a nationwide survey on sickle cell disease.
Being in complete isolation in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland, seeing more seals than human beings.
Personally met my favourite composer, Arvo Part, and some favourite directors as Pedro Almodovar and Nanni Moretti.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Into infinite hours of conversation, and I can give some references on Portuguese music, poetry or cinema.
