About Me

I'm a young French dude who likes to travel and meet people around the world for a beer, a meal, music or whatever. I'm especially looking for locals when I'm traveling.

I spent this last year in Canada where I was studying at the Moncton university in New-Brunswick and traveled from there in North America. I spent this summer on my way on a touring bike from Detroit to New-Orleans passing by Chicago, Saint Louis, Memphis, Jackson and Baton Rouge.

I'm now back in a Europe where I live and study in Milan. I study in urban planning at Politecnico di Milano, which means I'll live here at least for two years.

I traveled through Europe by train with the interrail pass with my friends for one month and we really enjoyed this trip passing by 8 different countries in a row and we discovered a lot of amazing things and people. 'Twas a lot of fun!!

I spent some time in Ireland, living barely one month in Cork, south of this small piece of land. I improved my English over there, got a strange accent and got use to drink a lot of cider.

Two years earlier I embarked a boat in Baltimore, Ireland and sailed along the Irish coast for two weeks passing by Bantry bay and the Fastnet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been traveling those last year and I have never had good experiences by staying at hotel or airbnb such as I had by Couchsurfing. It's so pleasant when someone host you and drive you through the best places around and tell you about his daily routine. Couchsurfing made me do some strange and amazing things, I went to a drag queen show in NOLA, a blues joint in Jackson, a trial in Charlottetown... it has always be beautiful meeting and lovely moments.

Interests

I really enjoy traveling and even when I'm hitting the road I'm thinking about what my next destination could be...

Otherwise I'm big fan of blues and folk music and appreciate all kind of different music.

I play some instrument : guitar, harmonica and I know a couple of banjo stuff. I started to learn violin last September but for the moment it's more noise than music but I really enjoyed learning those traditional Canadian folk songs. My goal for the up comings years is to keep practising violin and maybe start to play piano.

I recorded some of the songs I wrote. I don't know if it's good or not, if it sounds to much like Bob Dylan (I'm a huge fan) but I do that as a hobby and without any pretension. You can have a look to my Bandcamp page if you want : https://liamygunn.bandcamp.com/releases

I'm also practising a lot of sport but it depends when. I've been in a rowing team for four years and wasn't bad at it. My team and I won some big races. I'm riding my bike a lot and I like canoeing or hiking.

I also have some good cooking skills and I really enjoy it, so when I'll be able to host I'll be glad to cook for you. But I can also help you or cool for you as your guest, just let me know!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a unconditional fan of Bob Dylan and a music addict.
Regarding book in really fond of of Russian literature, especially from the nineteenth century.
About movies, I'm a huge Ken Loach fan!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, this past winter my friends and I went for a walk on Christmas Day in Quebec national park by a shiny day and warm weather, no snow around... In the middle of the Canadian winter!

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't really believe in the need of academic school (cf Ivan Illitch, a society without school) and i think life is made to teach, learn and share after our experiences, after the other, after what are able to do.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well, for this up coming year I won't be able to host anybody, indeed I'm now based Ina small flat in Milan , far away from home... But as soon as I'll have more space, I'll look forward to host couch surfers!
