Sobre mí

I was born and raised in Zaragoza, the 5th biggest city in Spain, where wind and cold is born according to the local culture. Although the city is in the middle of a dessert it is close enough to the mountains and the sea, so we can do daily trips to do skying or swiming :D

More than 3 years ago I moved to Delft (The Netherlands), a beautiful and cozy small town between Den Haag and Rotterdam. There I studied at TUDelft about robotics and control and I was a member of DARE (Delft Aerospace Rocket Engineering), a student team that builds and launches rockets! After my studies I was lucky and got a job in the same town, developing optical sensors for detecting bikes (There are more bikes in The Netherlands than inhabitants!).

After working and saving for some time, I have found the best moment to do two of the things I love most: traveling and photography. So, for a sligthly more than 5 months, I am going to be visiting several asian countries with just a carry-on backpack (I love traveling light!) taking pictures of everything, hoping to get a bit of the local culture.

Check my instagram (@guillearto) if you want to see my pictures :D

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

When I found out about this site I realized that the Couchsurfin spirit it was something that I was already feeling. Let me explain you with a short story.

So far, I've had three unforgetable trips (to Istanbul, Venice and South Korea). In all of them there was a common pattern: I wasn't exploring by myself but with a local (a close friend in these cases). Thanks to my local friends: I visited places that are not that touristic but even more amazing than the most famous ones, my friends shared with me their favourite secret places so I got to know them even better, my friends introduced me me to their friends and realize that people is amazing everywhere and that cliché are just that, I could scratch the surface of the local culture and understand their history and customs at deeper level. In short, having a local friend made me understand the place I was visiting to a level I couldn't have done it myself.

After this short(long) story, the reason of me being in CS is because I wanna keep having amazing trips where a local friend can show me the true self of the area.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Once of the things that fastinates me most while doing scuba diving is to explore ship wrecks. The most amazing one I have done is to go inside an oil tanker (Um El Faroud) in Malta. We started from the top of the ship and went downstairs (diving of course :P) around 7 floors, going throught dark and narrow corridors, visiting the engine room and crew rooms.

I would love to do it again! If you want to see it, I made a video, just ask me for the link :)

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I'm a big fan of science, robotics and computers so I can teach you some things about them! (I have some knowledge due to my engineering studies)

We can share our points of view about society and where it is going. I have always found it very interesting because people from different countries tend to have very different points of view.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

Let's cook together recipes from our countries. I can teach you how to make spanish omelette like a... spanish!

We can share our photography knowledge and show our best shots. I would love to learn more.

If you are into scuba diving, we can be buddies and do some dives :D

Do you have problems with your computer or want to do something difficult with it. Let's check it :)
