About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My dream was always to take a whole year off to travel around the world and that's what I'm doing :-D

ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Guillermo. I'm half French and half Spanish and was born in Barcelona. I'm actually living in Belgium (Brussels to be more precise). I used to work in a translation company as Assistant manager but during my studies in Political science I also lived in Paris and in Berkeley (just close to San Francisco, a city I felt in love with).

I love travelling and I have had the chance to have parents that love traveling too! In fact my parents always say that I started travelling when I was only 3 months when my mum took me on a plane to go to France and introduce me to my French family ;-) My dream was always to take a whole year off to travel all around the world and that's what I'm planning to do now :-D

I deeply believe that every trip is a whole different story because it depends on the people you travel with and the destination but the most important thing for me, when I travel, is "living the place" as if it was my own city. I hate to be rushed during a trip, on the contrary, I am pretty calm when I'm in holidays and I actually love to rest on a sofa with a great book in my hands in Brussels or any other place in the city.

It's always complicated to describe oneself on a blank page but I thing I am a very responsible person (maybe too much sometimes) and easy-going with the other people around at the same time. I just adore meeting new people and feel comfortable talking for hours with those people.

I can't live without my friends and my family (although it is sometimes complicated to get together...), without playing rugby (I actually play in an amateur team here in Brussels), without opera music in my iPod (I felt in love with opera after seeing "Carmen" at Opéra Bastille in Paris when I was 19 years-old) without a great thriller book and without a great conversation.

I don't know if I have a life motto but at least I can share with you my 2 favorite quotes: "Que bien se está cuando se está!" which would mean more or less "How good it feels when it feels good!" and probably "Don't do to others what you don't want them to do to you".

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to couch surfing so I have no experience to share yet but I'm sure it will be great!

Interests

I love to travel of course, hang out with my friends, have a good Belgian beer and tell funny, crazy or politically incorrect anecdotes.
I read the newspaper everyday and like detective novels.
I am passionate of politics, irony and sarcasm, sometimes all together ;-)
I'm into horseback riding, hiking and adventure sports as lone as I don't break my neck ;-)
I also play rugby and volley-ball.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most impressive and beautiful place I've ever visited is the Salar de Uyuni in South Bolivia!
