About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Keep my freedom and use it well.
ABOUT ME
What I am: a Louisiana kid, native to small towns and the woods and creeks, restless, ambitious. A bit self-conscious at first but pretty silly once I get comfortable, and that takes less and less time these days.
What I do: I'm always trying to learn something new. I spend a lot of time in the theatre, acting or directing or writing or producing. All told that means I'm sometimes too busy to be a great tour guide, but every day is different. I love creative relationships, whether it's someone I'm collaborating with on a project or just the kind of friend who likes singing or drawing comics or creating acrobatic formations or telling stories together.
I can listen, cook ridiculously healthy vegetarian food, give a good back massage, learn or teach a language, figure out where words come from, or occasionally put words to things that are hard to describe. I also love singing, though I could be a lot better at it.
Besides the basics, I'm a good tour guide to the pockets of nature in New Orleans, the best trees to climb, the biking routes, the theater scene and to a lesser degree arts in general, and the LGBT scene. I will probably also drag you to karaoke if you're here on a Tuesday.
PHILOSOPHY
Be present, give, get at the truth, laugh, help others laugh, relax, do things that make it hard to relax, confront the unknown. It gets a little introspective sometimes, but just give me a friendly shove and I'll come back to here and now.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Had my first surfing experience recently after hosting for a while-- I've settled again, but soon I'll be traveling for work and hope to get more great experiences that way. And I talk it up wherever possible.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first big trip alone also happened to be my first time surfing, and I immediately felt at home. I was sad to be stuck in a hotel for the bulk of my stay! As a host, I hope to help people get an insider view of the city, not just its tourist side.
Interests
Theater- doing it and seeing it and talking way too much about it.
Climbing trees, biking, getting out in the sun or the woods, how good water tastes when you're working hard. Exercise, body work and the rules behind them.
Music- people who know more about it than I do, harmony, singing, improvising.
Languages- how they work, how they change, learning them, using them to write and understand the world better.
Theorizing about What's Going On in the World.
LGBT rights.
Being overambitious. I want to build my life around all of these things.
Untying knots.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Nothing gets me like synchronicity. In the middle of a class in high school, a friend and I, sitting side by side but facing away from each other in separate conversations, turned to face one another of a single will, placed our hands palm to palm, and slowly raised them into the air. We're both in the theater now, hunting synchronicity daily.
Amazed every time I sing in harmony.
