Overview
About Me
After having worked mainly for the Belgian Cooperation to Development in Algeria, the US, and Vietnam I retired in 2008. I continued spending several months abroad every year, mainly in Asia (India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, China...).
I am now re-reading Hegel, Fukuyama and other hegelians writing and "A Chinese narrative: How do Chinese see the End of History ?"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Just came back from Yangon Myanmar where I spent 2 years at Yangon ITBMU (International Theravada Buddhist University), and am planning now to visit parts of Europe I don't know so well (Eastern Europe, Armenia, Georgia, Greece, Portugal).
I am 73 and in good shape. I thought I may find people of about my age who would rent me a room for a reasonable fee, advise me about unexpensive guesthouses or hostels, or I could just meet and talk about their country and life experience

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When in my twenties, I and a girlfriend did some ship hitch hikingin (thumbing) in 1964 from Marseille to Ghazaouet (formerly Nemours) in Algeria, passing through Bastia (Corsica). We were provided quasi-free passage, in a quite comfortable cabine and could take our meals with the officers and staff of a wine freight ship (pinardier) between Southern France and North Africa. Took 6 days.
