About Me

CURRENT MISSION

aligning thoughts and actions, learning

ABOUT ME

I am from the southeastern part of the United States. I don't identify with a particular city. I have moved around quite a bit growing up and still continue to do so until now. I've settled into Krakow, my big little city. I've been here 2.5 years, and it pains me to think I'll have to leave in another year!

I try not to take myself too seriously ever as a rule. I value getting involved in the place that you're in however you can. Over the past few years, I have changed locations quite a bit, but finding my niche in my new homes is always best part. I am an active person in the sense that I enjoy myself the most in creating or recreating things and being out doing something. I love the outdoors and photography. And, I think television generally sucks the life out of people -- but I've recently been converted into a movie watcher. Maybe I was wrong about tv. I still haven't seen enough enjoyable tv to share any good words about it. I really appreciate when people can do impressions/impersonation.

PHILOSOPHY

Enjoy the moment that you are in. The only time that exists is now. Nothing is ever too serious to be funny.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My role in Couchsurfing changes with my situation. I have done some hosting when my living situation permitted it. I have surfed in in some European countries and met some wonderful people, who I definitely enjoyed and hope to see again. While living in Athens, GA,USA, I was active in the local couchsurfing community, where we had local get-togethers and most of friends there I met through couchsurfing. Currently, my participation in couchsurfing is limited because my schedule is brutal. I am trying to host despite that!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing is fantastic. I have had the most incredible meeting people, while surfing in Europe. I will never forget the people, who have hosted me. Couchsurfing is definitely a special thing, and I can definitely confirm through my experiences that it is a step to build a global community. With time, I want to host more and, I also like to meet people just to talk through Couchsurfing (hope to do more of it).

Interests

My interests change all the time. The broad ones stay the same, such as reading, photography, dancing, music especially electronic music, being outside (when it is not icey cold) and enjoying subtle beauty, poetry, volunteering.
My current transient interests are drones, the hyperreal (Baudrillard), why ngos tend to fail, how to quantify a personality, medicine (j/k), and 'the internet.'

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music. My thoughts on enjoying music are twofold. I think people can love an experience they have when they listen to music especially for the first time. I also think that once you've heard a certain song or piece of music, you start to like it out of nostalgia. I've come to appreciate more the 'experiencing' aspect, because you can get the nostalgia aspect from almost any ole track you've been playing. With this in mind, I think it's more fun for you to find music that I've never heard before and can experience and love for the first time (and vice versus) rather than find what music taste we have in common. I am open minded with music. Try me please!

Books are great, I am reading comics for the first time.

Learning to love movies very slowly.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The two most beautiful and incredible places I have seen are the desert in the Southwest United States and the mountainous area in Tibet. It's more like shocking beauty. The other incredible thing that I have seen that has touched me is meeting other people, specifically in volunteering, that have dedicated their lives to other people. It is something rare.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn how to play the piano. It's been a dream of mine for a bit that always seems to get put off. (Right now, I am waiting to not be in medical school). As far as what I can teach other people, I like baking and cake decorating. I could share that.
