About Me

Roaming around at the moment.

CURRENT MISSION

Being mindful in more moments.

ABOUT ME

Sooo, I'm not so sure we have any specific characteristics that make us doomed to be this and that forever. I guess we can be leaning towards a certain trait in this current moment, with our biological predispositions, but when it comes to being a certain way, having a certain trait, it really seems to depend on the circumstances and prior experiences. We do different things and behave in different ways in different environments, and behaving a certain way today doesn't mean you will always behave in that way in that situation forever; you can learn, improve, etc. So I can be an extrovert and I can be an introvert, I can be clever and I can be silly.

This is really the idea of the self and the self illusion we seem to have. Books that have influenced my ideas on this topic are The self illusion by Bruce Hood and Waking Up by Sam Harris.

I also think we think we are too important. I guess you could call it the ego. I mean, we are social creatures and want to belong and be respected so maybe its not such an abnormal thing to have ego, but hot damn the ego can be annoying! At least I think we could be more aware of it so that we can do our best to keep it at bay.
And maybe we shouldn't be too invested in an idea to be true that we then can’t accept it being wrong, or can’t accept something else being equally right (or wrong). Being wrong today only means being right tomorrow. And this applies to whatever I write here too. I'm sure a lot of what I write is too short, or simply wrong, in many ways.

I prefer learning and wondering about the fundamentals of a thing rather than what comes after, or on top of, a fundamental idea, that in many cases only scratches the surface and doesn’t really matter in the end.

And I think I got infected with meaning at some point in my life. I'm not the biggest fan of doing things that I can’t see the point in doing, that are rather meaningless. Things that are primarily for ones own pleasure is one of those things, our own pleasure can be a little selfish sometimes. But I do think we can find meaning in most things.

I meditate quite a bit. I recommend the book Waking Up by Sam Harris on the subject of spirituality without religion.

I don’t know.. I might rewrite this in a month already, I might learn something new.. but I don't mean to say that what I have written is necessarily true.
Whatever....

PHILOSOPHY

Take a step back from yourself and examine with an open, non-judgmental mind. See how you are!
then try it with everything else.. and try to stay curious.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies even though I haven't been giving myself the time to watch a lot of them lately.

I like all kinds of music but it seems electronic is usually my choice.

Books/audiobooks: Mostly non-fiction.
Waking Up, Man's search for meaning, Islam and the future of tolerance, Thinking fast and slow, Predictably irrational, How pleasure works, The Moral Landscape, The Self Illusion, The bonobo and the atheist, etc...

I'm a lot into podcasts and audiobooks. Joe rogan and his crew are the ones that got me started.
