Chi sono

CURRENT MISSION

live the dream so well that I can remember much of it if I ever wake up.

ABOUT ME

I'm probably somewhat above average sociable and talkative, at least for a scandinavian. I love connecting, and that is probably why I'm so deeply into music.

I love meeting new people and seeing new places and hearing new grooves. I love that tingling sound my brain makes when it rewires itself from new experience.

I also really really love ducks, for reasons I don't fully understand.

PHILOSOPHY

Connecting. It seems to me as if that's what we're here to do. And that the better we get at it the happier we'll all be. Enjoying and paying close attention to my own experience seems to help me get better at connecting with others, i.e. the more I learn about myself the easier it gets to understand you.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When having couchsurfers, I'm happy with anything from simply providing you with a place to stay to taking on the full tourist guide role and walking you around half the city, depending on what is desired in a given situation.

When couchsurfing myself, I prefer a great deal of flexibility with regards to the ratio of hanging out versus going off on adventures on my own. Of course I always want to have a proper chat or two, the whole point is to not feel like strangers

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had a bunch of couchsurfers one summer when living in a bigger appartment with my ex. I don't remember how many we had in total, only that it was great fun and I really enjoyed showing them around and helping them get the most out of their visit to my city. The most adventurous couchsurfing I've seen though was when two young women from Berlin came to stay for several days on an old boat which served as my home for several weeks that summer, sailing from Oslo to Gothenburg. None of them had ever been on a boat before, but they immediately became extremely valuable and competent crew members.

I've never been an actual couchsurfer myself though, but I've stayed with really hospitable and kind people I barely knew on several occassions so I feel I have the basic guest knowhow.

Interessi

Music! Musicmusicmusic! Talking about music. And talking about other stuff, all kinds of stuff. Going places, preferably by bicycle or train, seeing stuff, look at ducks, go for a swim. Dancing, even, if the music's right.

In addition I'm generally into good causes like environment protection, human rights & digital freedom and such, but I can't pretend to be doing much about them except talking and caring.

Musica, film e libri

What music appeals to me has less to do with genre than wether I feel something interesting is being communicated. But I'm generally into folk, prog and early music the most, and even some experimental stuff is growing on me, through frequent live exposure due to the underground culture scene here in Gothenburg being so damned pleasant. If asked to name three favorite bands I'll quickly answer Gentle Giant, Gryphon and The Incredible String Band, assuming all the obvious ones like King Crimson and Jethro Tull and all the rest goes without saying, and also that listing more obscure stuff than that wouldn't be of general interest in this context.

Films I don't watch too frequently but Fellini, Bergman and Greenaway, among others, have made lasting impressions.

Books I read so rarely that it doesn't make much sense to list any writers, really. The excuse being I might be a bit scarred by having a librarian parent. Feel free to try to convert me out of my readers block if necessary!

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

I saw 70's medieval prog band Gryphon perform live for the first time in 32 years.

And the first time I ever saw people dance a bouree I was accompanying them.

I know that's kind of nerdy but these are probably the coolest things I've seen and done so far.

Insegna, impara, condividi

Anything you want to know about music theory I'd love to try my best to answer. Or if you need some help figuring out the melody or chords of a song, I'm mean at that. I could probably teach you a couple of cool singing techniques too if you wanted me to.

Wouldn't mind learning basic bicycle first aid properly in return.
