Overview
About Me
I am a PhD candidate in International Relations program at Middle East Technical University, Ankara. Currently, I am working as a research assistant in Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University department of Political Science, giving lectures on International Politics. Therefore, I live in Samsun with frequent visits to Ankara. I have visited a couple countries so far including three Baltic states, Russia, Italy and Spain. Like everybody else in this community, I too desire to visit more countries and to know more people. For now, however, I am a totally engaged graduate student, thus my travel plans must wait for a little bit more.
I only work on weekdays, but I usually read and/or write some papers, books etc. on any day at any time. On weekends, I avoid staying indoors, thus I prefer visiting neighboring towns and villages, knowing locals, and learning about their life and culture. Sometimes, I go fishing, not necessary for catching something but for taking a time out or to watch sunset. In spring and summer time, I go for camping in nearby forest areas. That is my life for a couple months. If you are in Turkey and planning to stop by in Samsun, I would be happy to lend my couch and show my favorite places around the city. Plus, you are welcome to attend my lectures and to inspire my students about travelling!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I do not use Couchsurfing when I travel, particularly when I feel too tired to conduct a proper talk with my hosts. Currently, however, I am not able to travel much because of my job, and I stay alone in Samsun. Therefore, I would like to host travellers and to help them know more about Turkey.
