For me, Couchsurfing is not a cheaper way to travel (as a fact - it is), but a way how I can explore the culture of different countries, way to get a not touristic, real-life social view, way to build a friends network of amazing, open-minded people.

And of course, after being a traveler you want to be a host, to give the ability for other people to explore your country / city.
