Overview
About Me
My name is Gustav and I'm a Danish Game developer living in Krakow Poland. Learning Slavic languages, and backpacking around Eastern/Central Europe.
I love learning languages, since they are the key to unlocking the richness of different cultures. By learning a new language, I love immersing myself in a language's history, traditions, and way of life. It's like stepping into a new world and seeing things from a fresh perspective. I specifically love studying etymology, I especially love when I hear a new word in a language I'm studying, and I can sense that it's a cognate in a language I already know, and then I frantically go on Wiktionary to see if I am right in my senses. I'm currently studying Polish very intensively, and for that I'm thankful that I know both Danish and English, because both languages can assist me in some way.
I really love studying Indo-european languages since they are all so connected through history. So many of the really basic words for actions which have existed since early times are the same in so many European languages.
Besides languages I also really like to cook, especially stews that need to simmer for ages. I'm also a huge coffee nerd and have a box full of different brewing equipment at home, that unaccustomed people look at with wide eyes when they see me use them 😀
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Dina: I'm on Couchsurfing because travel isn't just a pastime; it's an integral part of who I am. The most memorable moments and profound experiences come from interacting with locals—those encounters that allow you to uncover the hidden gems not listed on tourist websites. It's about feeling the warmth of genuine hospitality, merging with the vibrant lives of the residents, while still experiencing the wonders of each destination like a tourist
Gustav:
I want to meet new people while travelling! I want to share and connect with people. Moved to Kraków a year agi ago and it's been a journey, from there I've travelled to many countries in Eastern and Central Europe.
