About Me

Curios, eclectic, honest and trying to be always happy!
My philosophy of life comes from two main sources:
1. "I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life" (Walden, Henry David Thoreau)
2. "It is not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste a lot of it" (De brevitate vitae, Seneca)

The movie "Dead Poets' Society" let me know about Walden and helped me understand what I really feel when I think about meaning of life.
The quote from "De brevitate vitae" and my not-gloomy reflections on death have been my incentive to make the most of my life

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the thrill of learning everything far from my mentality.
I heard about Couchsurfing and Meetup when I was in London for my Erasmus Internship and thanks to people I knew through them I started to feel citizen of the world opening more and more my mind.
I am using CS and Meetup to meet new people and join interesting events during my trips

Interests

I really like Medicine and, in particular, Research; in Italy medical education doesn't focus on research so since 2015 I have tried to spend my summers abroad to have two-months internships in research institutes to cultivate my passion.
I love playing aproximately every sport, watching movies, learning languages; in 2015 I have started a salsa/bachata class and my life has changed thanks to what-I-call intrinsic "culture of happiness" of caribbean dances.
I am extremely curious and almost everything I don't know attracts me; as soon as possible I would like to start playing an instrument and learn more about classical music

Music, Movies, and Books

"Our Ancestors" trilogy by Italo Calvino and his difference between "to be" and "to exist" helped me to understand that "Anche ad essere s'impara" (there's no a faithful translation but it means more or less "during your life you might simply exist and, if you want to be, you need to learn it"); this book impressed me for the communicative strenght of "lightness" that is not only a writing style but also a life one. Calvino said lightness means "not superficiality but to glide on things without huge weights on heart".
My favourite singer-songwriter is Fabrizio De Andrè; I like Bob Dylan's style, jazz music and am open to listen to new musical genres.
In addition to "Dead Poets' Society", "Midnight in Paris" became one of my favourite movies after I lived in Paris for few months and I fell in love with the city

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been able (and lucky) to cultivate through years day by day autenthic and invaluable relationships with my girlfriend and three real friends: until now it has required dedication and care and was not always easy...but without doubts incredibly worthwhile

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my happiness, entusiasm and curiosity...and of course I can teach you how to cook some Italian foods ;)
I am looking for find out new aspects of myself and one of the main things I am continously trying to learn is "lightness" and I hope to find people able to help me to be increasingly lighter

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to share my life experiences during nice conversations.
If we have the possibility to get a bike, we can go around together and I am sure we will have a good time talking and cycling :)
