About Me

ABOUT ME

Hola!
Easygoing chilean, curious about everything, laid-back approach to life. Hakuna matata, you know?
Passion for traveling and teaching. Landscape discoverer, stone skipper, frustrated astronaut, tales collecter, beer enjoyer, music eater. I love my bike more than many people around me. Child forever.

CURRENT MISSION

Ikigai

PHILOSOPHY

"This is your LIFE. Do what you LOVE, and do it OFTEN. If you don't like something, change it. If you don't like your job, quit. If you don't have enough time, stop watching TV. If you are looking for the love of your life, stop; they will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love. Stop over analyzing, life is simple. All emotion are beautiful. When you eat, appreciate every last bite. Open your mind, arms and heart to new things and people, we are united in our differences. Ask the next person you see what their passion is, and share your inspiring dream with them. Travel often; getting lost will help you find yourself. Some opportunities only come once, seize them. Life is about the people you meet, and the things you create with them so go out and START CREATING. Life is short. Live your dream, and WEAR YOUR PASSION."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because there are so many hidden wonderful weirdos around the world waited to be discovered, and CS is sometimes an interesting but inpredictable radar of them.

And while beeing at home, is the best way to bring travel memories back to the present (and start thinking about new ones)

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:
I consider myself a music addict (best addiction ever). If you want to say something, you know, say it through music.
My mission in this world is to discover every kind of music existing, specially those less known bands who mixed ethnic rhythms with contemporary styles (is that what we call "world music"?). If you know about any bar with live music shows or jam sessions in your neighborhood, please share :)

Favourites: Ska, jazz, afrobeat, chill hop, neo soul, blues, flamenco, folk, reggae, bossa nova

BOOKS:
Always read one (or two) book(s)... and never ending them!
Currently reading:
"On the road" by Jack Kerouac

Other writers that I liked: Julio Cortázar, Jorge Luis Borges, José Saramago, Juan Rulfo, Gabriel García Márquez, Byung Chul-Han, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Rosa Montero, Gastón Soublette

FILMS:
I consider myself lacking of films knowledge, but always open to learn more about it and ready to enjoy a recommended film!
Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli movies are really awesome :)
Documentaries: Enquete de sens; Cowspiracy; Bakara; Samsara, Human.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dawn at Ahu Tongariki, Rapa Nui (Easter Island)... Most beautiful thing I have ever seen
Bungee jumping in Baños, Ecuador
Paragliding in Cajón del Maipo, near Santiago
Lose my flight back to Santiago de Chile... twice.
Take care of 29 tortoises for one month in Portugal ❤
Survive to 16 days of Vendange (french grape harvest) in Bourgogne and Beaujolais.
Cala de San Pedro

Teach, Learn, Share

Learning and teaching is what moves the world. Do you want to change it and make it a better place for everyone? Then learn, teach and share!

You need to know that this is what I considered the most valuable part of CS. I would really appreciate whatever you would like to teach and show. You certainly do have a good reason to teach/show it to me, don't you? Well, that's the important thing behind.

What can I teach you... I can give some mathematics and economics classes hahaha :D (indeed math tutoring was my first paid job, and I've been doing it for many years)
As I wrote before, music inspires me, so I'm open to teach and share all what I know about music, specially chilean folklore (music and also traditional dances!! in case you want to learn some "cueca" dancing... this is your opportunity!), including some guitar (currently learning) and pandero songs ;)

Also started a couple of years ago to make macramé bracelets and I always travel with some threads to teach interested people how to do it :)

What can we share? Everything! Life's about sharing, don't you agree?
Good conversations, long walking tours, dinner, drinks and dance!
I'm always looking forward to meet somebody to share a yoga session and to sing/play one or two songs together, give some rhythm and let it flow!

What I Can Share with Hosts

So until now you should have a relative clear idea of myself and what can I offer, but what about the real couchsurfing experience? I mean, the fact that you are letting get a stranger into your house.. not that easy, right? First of all... RESPECT (give and receive). Without that nothing will work properly. Your place, your rules.

As a guest: If you care about behaviour, i'm very tidy with my stuff (also with yours, of course) and always try to leave things even better than how I found them,... actually I'm very good at house cleaning (:D).
Cooking? Well, I must say that chilean food sadly isn't that tasty as you may expect, nor my creative cooking skills (just survival cooking techniques, which basically means mix-everything-you-have-available!)... Even though I'm always ready to share a cooking session :) dinner will be always tasty with funny cooking buddies!

Cheers!
