Overview
About Me
I am a 24 year old from Singapore. I study Bachelor of Science in Aviation Business Administration with Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. This is in pursuit of my interest in Aviation. I am currently on a 1 semester exchange, and based in Daytona Beach, Florida. Aviation is a dream, and passion, which has followed me since childhood. As a kid, I grew up loving the Boeing 747, and has always loved that airplane. However, with more emphasis on better fuel economy, it is definitely sad to see that the Boeing 747s are being phased out continuously by airlines.
I have mostly grown up all my life in Singapore, before living here in United States. I also lived in Germany for a couple of months. I did my 2 years military service with the Singapore Armed Forces. I served as an armored signaller with the 40th Singapore Armoured Regiment (40SAR). My main duty in the unit was to man communications for my Battalion's 2nd in Charge (a major rank) when we went for outfield missions.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to meet people and interact with them and get to know their cultures. I like the idea of meeting up with locals, and getting to be a part of their lives. Not many people have heard of my little country called Singapore. Many people also have misconceptions about my country. Hence, couchsurfing is really a good way for me to share about my country, and my culture!
Interests
I love football and support Borussia Dortmund, a football club based in Germany. That is European Football, and not the American Football =) I also love playing football, and play in my favored position as goalkeeper. People might say it is a boring position, but I find it fun to be able to use every part of my body to keep out shots directed at my goal. It really gives me joy to see people getting frustrated at not being able to score against me!
As covered in the 'about me' section, I love aeroplanes! Love the Boeing 747-400! Love flying on them, and also exploring the different soft and hard products airlines have to offer.

Music, Movies, and Books
I do like the soundtracks from Two Steps From Hell. I prefer listening to soundtracks with no vocals.
For movies wise, I do like action films, and historical movies. I am definitely a fan of the Avenger movies, and Christopher Nolan's the Dark Knight Trilogy.
I do read up books on the Airline Industry and planes.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It is very hard to nail down that one amazing thing you have done in your life when there is plenty to talk about. However, if I have to talk about one, it would probably be a part of a tour guide volunteer team at Orbis International. Being a fan of aviation, I know that Orbis operates the McDonnell Douglas MD-10 which was donated by FedEx. That aircraft was converted into a flying hospital, and flies to various 3rd world countries to help combat blindness.
I am definitely proud to be part of the volunteer team that promoted the Orbis activities in Singapore, and helped conducted tour guides on board that amazing aircraft which played host to help blind people regain their eyesight!
Teach, Learn, Share
Singapore is a small country in Asia. Being a small country, it is just represented by a little red dot on any world map. Singapore is in South East Asia! Hence, please do not confuse my country as being part of some other country!
In Singapore, everybody speaks ENGLISH! However, due to the amalgamation of cultures in our country, Singaporeans tend to speak Singlish in their daily lives! Singlish is basically an amalgamation of English, Chinese, Cantonese, Hokkien, Malay, and Tamil!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can bring over local favourites originating from my country, Singapore. Something like kaya, curry sauce etc. Whatever the hosts want or need, I will try to make do and accommodate. After all, the most important thing is to respect the host!
