About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Expect the unexpected, respect the unrespected.
ABOUT ME
Open minded - i enjoy being a foreigner.
My previous life in Finland, China, Denmark and Germany tells it the best way:
I am living abroad for 5 years now, while still trying to keep my friends at home. Which has worked better than expected. I have a Chinese Girlfriend, we are engaged and hoping to at least find a Job in the same country after graduation.
Update: We will get married soon! :-)
UPDATE again: We got married in 2011 and are living in Oldenburg (GER) at the moment.
And for now, the working life has also started for me.
Damn..
I´m now working as an environmental engineer in planning biogas plants.
UPDATE: My wife moved to Finland to write her PhD.
I am still living in Germany, but working 50% of my time from Finland. So i´m travelling a lot.
Still willing to host, whenever it is possible.
PHILOSOPHY
I like to travel!
Whow, i guess every second person here likes that.
Why am i different?
The WAY i travel! My emphasis on tour: Do it like the locals do! I do not eat at Mc. Donalds, unless i might be in the States, i do not get drunk, unless i am in Finland :-), i do not take Taxis and i do not want to be a tourist! Well, that is hard sometimes. But my emphasis is to actually see the country i am traveling in. Whenever possible, i try not to sleep in hostels or hotels, but either go camping or stay at locals. Not because of the money, but because i get much more feeling of the local culture.
I hate to see people who rush from sight to sight, preferable by taxi, because they feel it´s safer, easier or simply they don´t need to share the same bus with locals. Fuck them!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Whenever possible, i will offer my current home (which is hard to define) to others.
I have participated in youth exchanges and now i can say that my current life would have gone another direction without these cultural experiences. Therefore i can only recommend to take the challenge of getting lost in foreign cultures. Alone, or in a small group, but not with pre-booked accommodation!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far i have only had good experiences on CS. I often follow invitations from locals on my journeys, some of them turned out to be rather difficult to handle. For example a wedding in Nepal, where the brother of the bride turned out to be gay. (During the night, while i shared the same bed with him..) It is part of the risk when traveling alone to get in these situations. Well, thats life!
(And yes, my ass is still virgin)

Nature! And the things you associate with it: Trekking, Camping, Fishing, Photography, Skiing and of course barbecue.
