Overview
About Me
I'm a university lecturer, teaching politics and international relations here in Malaysia. I'm also a researcher as well. My particular interests are in Middle East and Latin American politics. Yup, quite a difference!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A friend told me about this site and as I am living in Malaysia and want to see the region, I thought this might be a nice way to travel and meet some interesting people along the way.
I like to get away from the soulless hotel experience and see new places more in a more intimate fashion.
Interests
Capoeira, Learning Languages (struggling with Arabic...), Taking full advantage of Kuala Lumpur's relatively cheap cinemas, 90s music (yes, I'm a bit dated!). Football - watching more than playing these days.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I got the backpacker bug after leaving school and never really lost it. Before university I spent 6 months 'teaching' English (not sure that my students really benefited though...) in China during the 1990s. At 21 I backpacked through Lebanon and Syria, when it wasn't a popular tourist destination.
Teach, Learn, Share
Not that I'm very good at it, but if you don't know capoeira and want to learn some basic moves, let me show you!
What I Can Share with Hosts
How about we just talk and see what comes up? It might be something that neither you nor I initially thought about.
