About Me

My name is Guy, I live in Israel and I love Travelling! Tho currently studying physics at Ben Gurion Univeresity in Be'er Sheva and not travelling much until summer ;)

I grew up in a small village called "Almog", located in the desert near the Dead Sea - one of the worlds wonder of nature. Almog is one of Israel's 270 "Kiboutz"s - a community collective and a worlds unique type of settlement that sustain a more social way of life that involves mutual responsibility to each other. For all my life l've lived and breathed the air of this small Kiboutz, the desert, the mountains and dry canyons surrounding, the palm trees, and of course the marvelous salty sea.

I used to work in agriculture at our big dates plantation, and also in landscaping at the Kiboutz, but currently my only occupation is travelling in North and Central America, no ticket home yet ;)

I am number 2 between 4 boys in my family, I am a big family person and I like to spend as much time as I can with them. Through my travelling I felt a lot of people joined to my family also, and definitely Couchsurfing had a great part in that. I hope that if you are reading my profile you are about to join this group to!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To travel the world and meet up awesome local people! Some of the most unique experiences I had while travelling were with people I met through Couchsuring, whether it's Hosts or travelers.

I hope one day I would be able to host back home in Israel, and give back all the love and help I got from other Couchsurfers.

Interests

I like to explore the world (ofc) hiking, biking, kayaking and whatsoever.

I love taking photos, currently with my old Nikon D60 and my poor 18-105 lens.

I enjoy editing videos and short video clips in my computer, and making all the visuals to perfectly sync the music so the clip will rock.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to indie rock, 60'-70' American folk, tons of The Beatles and some Israeli 70' Rock.

My favorite book by far is Catch 22, nothing could match Josephs Heller sarcasm.

Movies I really like are "The Fall", "Memento", and the israeli legendary "Mivtza Safta".

Also I am deeply in love with the TV Series "The Wire" (2001), and could not believe Hollywood would ever make something on the TV that would compare to this quality TV.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kayaked solo for 5 days a full circuit of 120KM in a chain of lakes called "The Bowron Lakes" in British Columbia, Canada. Pretty amazing, remote, and unique area, highly recommend that.

Teach, Learn, Share

A lot of photos and some photography knowledge. History and present of the unique settlement kind of which we call "Kiboutz", and of course some travelling stories and really good and specific recommendations for a Western Canada expedition.
