About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My mission is to see as much of the world as I can before I'm too old to enjoy it. Does that sound cynical? Ah well.
ABOUT ME
Right, I'm currently an M.A. student in religious studies (no I'm not religious) at the University of Missouri. My plan is to either continue into a PhD program and teach at the university level or...do something else I guess. I've been in bands for years, still winding that part of my life down to focus on the ol' career deal. Gotta grow up sometime, eh?
PHILOSOPHY
Personal philosophy? hmm. I just read this in the last book I read about humanism and religion - "There are no ultimates, my friend, when it comes to meaning and purpose." I suppose that says a lot about my attitude about life. Secular humanist, skeptic, nihilist?, cynic. But I'm nice guy! haha
As a religious studies student I am constantly addressing the topic of 'the sacred' and I can definitely say I find the sacred in my relationships with other human beings.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've never hosted but I've surfed a number of times with my band over the years. It's about time I start returning the favor!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've just signed up with my own profile on CS but I've surfed a couple of times before, mostly at the last minute while on tour in the midwest. I've had a great experience so far and I'm eager to offer my own place.
Interests
I like football (soccer), black tea, my dog Scout, my colleagues, NPR, public debates, and oh so much more.

Music, Movies, and Books
I read mostly esoteric, academic works on obscure argumentative historical perspectives and reimaginations of early Christian history (ugh). I haven't been much of a reader for leisure in my life but I'm about to embark on Martin's Game of Thrones this week!
My favorite bands at the moment are probably Title Fight, Converge, and Daylight. I'm generally into heavier genres but I absolutely enjoy sleepy time music and good emo.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing I've done in my life is tour Europe with my band for 3 weeks. It was some of the most fun I've ever had in my life and I met some of the best people I could imagine.
Teach, Learn, Share
I always enjoy a stimulating conversation. Chances are, if there's a topic, I've got an opinion on it. I love to hear other peoples' perspectives and am always open-minded. Like Socrates, the one thing I know is that I know nothing.
Countries I’ve Visited
Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, United Kingdom
