About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore, taste, listen, feel. Indefinitely. To find and to lose. To be found and get lost.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To push my boundaries a little farther than where I'm comfortable. To meet and experience. Just to see what's out there.

Interests

Creativity! Of all kinds. Specifically, music is somewhat of a passion, though film is a fairly close second.

I also have a strong interest in nature and the connection of all living things. In living simply. In cooking, eating, sleeping, loving, dreaming, walking. In looking at the sky.

What an interesting place the world is!

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh! Too many to name! Some past parts of myself loved Alice in Wonderland (and Through the Looking Glass), Neutral Milk Hotel's "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea", and Synecdoche, New York for a book, an album, and a movie, respectively, though tastes must change as we do. In the moment, I've been renewing a love for the Beatles, as well as discovering the very new music of Tashi Dorji. For books, I have lately become fond of anything by Haruki Murakami, and for movies, I thought Spike Jonze's 'Her' was excellent and I love all the work of Hayao Miyazaki.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I left a life I knew of comfort and friendship and ease to go out into the world with a person I hardly knew when I left. And I ended up with my feet in the ocean, and my arms stretched up with the tallest trees in the world. On mountains and under snow. I faced myself, and came out of it not only with an inner peace, but a partner with which to share my experiences and explorations.

Also, though I didn't really have anything to do with it, becoming an uncle is one of the most amazing things that's happened to me.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hm. I suppose I could teach a little beginner's Tai Chi, and I feel pretty good about my ability to show some of the freedom of improvisation in art and music.

I'm most interested right now in learning just how other people live around the world. In the languages people speak, the food people eat, the music they make, and the beliefs they hold.

I would love to share thoughts about life, about the different paths we all wind through this world, and the ways we can find the awareness of love in our lives.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I could play music for you for hours, with anything, feeling out the moment and the instrument to try to create something true. I also might be able to scrounge up making a meal, or do your dishes, or show you a bit of Tai Chi.
