About Me

I'm a Canadian living and working in NYC. I'm a creative type who is fortunate enough to work at the intersection of technology, filmmaking, and prosocial activism. I am dedicated to lifelong learning and HUGE advocate for autodidactic approaches to living life.

I believe life is either a good time, or a good story. At the same time, I intimately understand human suffering in a profound way, and endeavor to alleviate that for the people meet as best a way I can.

About a decade ago, back when I was living in Toronto, I had a couch surfing account and hosted some folks from time to time. It was one of the best experiences ever. Unfortunately, where I am living now in NYC is much too small to host. But I am more than excited to meet up with any person who wants someone to talk to while traveling, who wants to grab dinner, a coffee, and walk around the city to find some hidden gems (or what's left of them in this rapidly gentrifying place!). I love meeting people from all over, and am happy to share my time (evenings + weekends) with anyone who needs a friend for a day or two or three in this chaotic city.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

-To experience the exchange of human interaction in an unconventional way
-Meeting incredible human beings
-Planning my next vacation
-Supporting this online community!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once upon a time I made performance art. Performance art mostly means doing something embarrassing for way too long. Nowadays I find better ways to understand myself and the world like dining alone in restaurants, learning how to be a better person, and teaching myself new things.

Also, probably this wacky movie I performed the lead role in: http://bugs.world/

Teach, Learn, Share

-Plant identification (Northeastern USA & Canada only)
-Cooking tips from someone who worked in restaurant hospitality for years
-Sewing
-Directions & the optimal subway route
-Research -- about ANYTHING. I'm really good at this.
-Tap dancing (Sadly, I cannot guaranteed you'll learn it quickly, but I could demo for a few seconds)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a great cook and I know a little bit about wine. I've worked in many different industries (corporate retail HQ, restaurant industry/sommeliership, assisting artist practices, tech startups, and multinational non-profit organizations), and have acquired a wide range of opinions about work, the USA/Canada, organizations, food, popular culture, digital media, and art and design. I am empathic and love to help people solve their problems, and can happily lend an ear.

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, United States
