ABOUT ME

We live in Eastern Ontario in a small town of 3500 people. Although we reside in a small town, we both love to get to the city - makes coming home all that more wonderful. We love to boat, snowmobile, camp and our most important past time is training and showing our golden retrievers in both conformation & obedience. We have opened our house up to many Jr. A hockey players as billet parents and their families became ours. When family came to visit their sons, many stayed with us and we just loved it. We've considered operating a bed & breakfast but didn't want to really operate a formal type business - we'd rather do a more "informal" type of operation. Both Ron & I have children but they're grown and have families of their own. We presently have 3 grandchildren with another on the way. We presently have 2 golden furbabies - Nyg who is 21 months old & Riley who is 3 1/2 years old. Both are housedogs and a very important part of our day to day lives. We do have a new furbaby coming to join our family in February/09. Neither of us has done much travelling - Mexico, Dominican Republic, and some areas of the USA - but we'd love to meet those from around the world. I'd LOVE to travel to New Zealand and Australia as well as Spain, Portugal and ............. Both Ron & I are easy going and love to cook a great meal, have a glass of wine, lots of talk, a bon fire, pull out the guitar, ........... We're not wealthy but we live a rich life!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have a 5 bedroom home on an acre of property. 3 of the bedrooms have queen sized beds and the other has a double pull out couch. All of the mattresses are newer and have both feather beds/down filled duvets. There are 2 shared bathrooms for guests - Bathroom 1 has full bath/shower, toilet & sink and the other has a shower, toilet and sink. We have a 4 car attached garage for indoor storage of motorcycles, snowmobiles, etc. Our neighbourhood is very safe and crime is almost non-existent in our small town. There is lots to do for all - Bancroft is known as "The Most Talented Town" for those interested in the arts, "Mineral Capital of Canada" for those interested in rock collecting, lots of lakes & rivers for fishing, canoeing and lots of established trails for those interested in walking, snowmobiling or ATVing. We're also located under 1 hour from Algonquin Provincial Park for camping, etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While watching the news, we listened to a article about Couch Surfing and it appealed to us greatly.

We love to camp, boat, spend time with family, hockey games, a bonfire, music, a good bottle of wine, a home cooked meal and, of course, our golden retrievers.

We have been to see "We Will Rock You" @ the theatre 3 times in the past year - We LOVED it! Momma Mia - 3 times as well.

Seeing the Northern Lights from atop a mountain while snowmobiling on New Years Eve in 1996. It was a very cold night (at least -30C) and we stopped our sleds, sat on a log & the northern lights danced for us!
