ABOUT ME

I'm Gwenny, 24-years-old, I just finished my studies in Journalism in July '11. My expertises are New Media, Traveljournalism, Radio, Music & Entertainment.

This summer we're planning a big Eurotrip with InterRail through Europe. There are three groups of students travelling, my group is visiting 7 countries in Central-Europe: Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia and Germany.

Our Study-Town Utrecht is in the race of becoming Cultural Capital of Europe in 2018. That's why we're looking for special cultural spots in other cities, to make Utrecht's cultural life even better!

PHILOSOPHY

I want to make my life as good as it can be, by doing things I like. That's why I hope to become a Travel Journalist, so I can combine my work with my hobby.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm fairly new to CS, this summer will be my first time to be Surfing on someones Couch. Because we're planning a trip which will take five weeks, I'm sure I will meet so many nice people. It's a bit scary as well sometimes, because I've never CouchSurfed before and I hope everything will turn out well.

I love to travel, meet new people, listen to the radio (also in other countries, love to hear what they're listening to), I love watching news shows, and ofcourse tv-series, not a big movies fan but ofcourse I do watch them sometimes, I like playing music and so much more.

Books:

I almost only read travelbooks right now. Not just the Lonely Planet, but books from Dutch correspondents abroad, like Jelle Brandt Corstius, who lived in Moscow for years. Besides that I read a lot of column bundles by journalists and I have tons of books about Music. I don't really enjoy reading chicklits, or the old Literature...

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Starting the applause on Wenceslas Square in Prague, Czech Republic. There is this big and beautiful astronomic clock on the square, which attracks many tourists every hour. Because we've been here a few times, we knew the drill. After the clock is done doing his round at the hour, the tourists, mostly japanese, starting applauding for the clock, which is kind of weird, because it's not really a performance. The last time me and my friend visited Prague we decided to start the applause with a very loud slowclap, which was really exciting and fun to do. I would suggest every visitor to do the same thing!

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I could teach you the Dutch language if you speak English, or German. On our trip this summer, one of my travelbuddies Marya, could also teach you Russian and Arabic. We could also teach you how to use Social Media and blogs.

I would like to know some of the language of the countries we're visiting this summer. I'm starting to learn some basic words but I love to know more and more! Also I'm interested in cultural traditions of every country we visit.

I would like to share music from the Netherlands, so you'll know something about that as well.
