About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I seek healthy relationships with people who are committed to social and environmental justice. I seek meeting/collaborating with others who are dedicated to making this world better for humans and the more than humans.

ABOUT ME

I spend a lot of time trying to make my life and home more ecologically sustainable. I help my community by getting to know my neighbors and being active in community politics and events, I grow edible trees/plants so others can afford them because food should grow everywhere and be free. I love learning about ecology and am pretty good plant and mushroom identification. This is important if you want to eat them and sharing the knowledge. I love music and group singing and usually spend my vacations in workshops focused on singing and developing our voices. I Love African drumming and dancing. I make a living by landscaping and caring for children, sometimes construction and working in an acupuncture clinic. I am trained in bodywork and enjoy learning about how to release pain - emotional and physical. I care a lot about the planet and finding ways to create resilience during our current ecological collapse. I've spent time at ecovillages and continue to learn about how to create sustainable, long-lasting social structures.

PHILOSOPHY

Have Integrity and use it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been hosted by those in Germany and I took a trip across the country being given pillows from Alabama to Alaska. Now am an Asheville hoster....

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I learned about CS in my early 20's and allowed me the opportunity to have wonderful experiences, and, honestly, I met some men that didn't care about my boundaries and were drunk and unsafe. It's important to know that not all women are on here for sex, and that coming to my house drunk is not OK. One story of a great experience was Adam Roth who was hosted me when I decided on a whim to run a 1/2 marathon. Not only did he accept me on short notice, he helped me after I about passed out at the end of the race... He helped me recover...we had great conversations, and I learned about "The Four Agreements" which was something I needed to learn about at the time. His donation of kindness and his understanding of consent was something I will always remember as a striking moment. He was the epitome of a safe helpful person. It's sad how rare this can be, but I found it through couchsurfing- It was really profound and special.

Interests

I LOVE the theatre, more than one should be allowed to. Cabaret's, Dramas, musicals, kids theater, I love the stage. I've taken improv classes and consider it one of the best things someone can do for their health- to go laugh until you wheeze.

I am a a part of our local fruit and nut club - I really appreciate learning about how to grow and take care of plants and trees.

I can't get enough of world music and dancing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a Documentary fan - I love learning about whose doing what and being inspired...

Books- Braiding Sweeetgrass- A native American female Scientists crosses the boundaries between native wisdom and western science - one of the most poetic and inspiring books I've read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I jumped off a cliff into an abandoned shrimp factory/water hole....

Well I was pushed . I’d never do it again- but it was an awfully good once in a lifetime event
