About Me

CURRENT MISSION

is to have no mission, no plan, to be spontaneous, to explore, discover, be free spirited, to meet amazing people, see amazing things, be inspired by diversity, eat, drink, laugh.

ABOUT ME

I have a strong passion for travel as I don't like to be in one place for too long. I have a strong desire to do everything I possibly can, fitting 48 hours into one day. I don't like to sit still! I love to be spontaneous. I love meeting people from all walks of life along the way, and catching up again down the track. When I decide I want to do something, I do it, rather than just talking about it. I strongly believe that whatever you want in life, you can make happen. You've just got to get up and do something about it! I thoroughly enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and comparing stories - my motivation is inspired by the people I meet and the places I experience.

I am a MASSIVE FOODIE. I live to eat and drink. I think the best way to travel and really experience a country is just to roam the backstreets and get lost, and immerse yourself in the local food and drink. I generally tend to eat my way around Europe, and usually remember a location largely by the food and drink I had! I am always open for having a long dinner out at a restaurant, but I equally love cooking and sharing delicious food in home, whilst relaxing to chilled music and enjoying some wine.

I much prefer to see a city from a local's perspective than from a typical tourist guide. Whilst I can appreciate history and architecture, in my view, once you've seen a church/palace/gallery, you've seen them all. Getting lost and discovering things "off the beaten track", meeting the locals and experiencing the REAL culture is my passion.

I have been brought up with a good education, and have always recognised the importance in working hard and going to university. However, for me my university studies have been something I've just had to do, and whilst I am career oriented and strive to achieve, I do not think what you learn in the classroom is what "educates you". My 2 1/2 years travelling overseas has taught me more than I ever could have asked for. Travelling opens your eyes and teaches you things a classroom cannot, and for me a large part of this is learning how to interact with different people and learning how to accept social differences. The friendships I have made whilst travelling are some of the best I could ask for!

I am the kind of girl that much prefers to go to a cool bar and drink and chat whilst relaxing to good music and people. I could bar hop all night, or I could just find a great place to have dinner and sit there for hours drinking wine and eating. I also really appreciate just staying at home and cooking dinner with people, whilst sharing drinks and listening to the music we like. I am not a clubbing person, as I personally dislike the typical club music and also don't appreciate not being able to talk to anybody or see anything. It's just not my scene.

PHILOSOPHY

I really love the simplest things in life; a beautiful day, beautiful countryside, beautiful views, beautiful wine and food, sitting by a fire, a cup of tea and long chats with people you love, listening to music that captures my current emotions, laughing...

The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.

I've learnt that having high expectations of things and people can let you down. It's much better to go into something with an open mind, and don't always be too reliant on people. I guess I am a very independent young woman and this is why I often choose to travel alone.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I LOVE music. I generally am into the more 'alternative' type music, that is not necessarily alternative for long. Basically, I just like discovering new bands with unique talents and sounds, and I don't care what genre its is. My taste has changed a little bit over the years, and I am continually discovering new genres like 60s/70s rock and jazz music. I am open to many types of music, but generally dislike rap, r&b, pop and techno music. Though there is some electro type stuff that I enjoy!

London Grammar, Alt-J, Foals, Bon Iver, Beach House, Sigur Ros, Foster the People, M83, Of Monsters & Men, Washed Out, The Temper Trap, City & Colour, Miike Snow, Florence & The Machine, Arcade Fire, First Aid Kit, Frightened Rabbit, Purity Ring, Alt-J, Bloc Party, Boy & Bear, Mew, Moby, Oliver Tank, David Gray, The Gaslight Anthem, The National, Johnny Cash.

Movies: I don't watch a lot actually, but I love it when I take the time out to watch one. I don't like wasting my time on crap, I generally want to be able to get something out of it and I love it when a movie triggers me to think or inspires me to do something. Into the Wild, Intouchables, I am Sam, The Pianist, Schindler's List, Love Actually, Headhunters, Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Italian Job, Catch Me if You Can, A Beautiful Mind, Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Books: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, The Bronze Horseman series by Paullina Simons. Loved the Harry Potter series when I was young.
