About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open" --Nehru

PHILOSOPHY

"The cream of enjoyment in this life is always impromptu. The chance walk; the unexpected visit; the unpremeditated journey; the unsought conversation or acquaintance." Fanny Fern (1872)

"They are much to be pitied who have not been....given a taste for nature in early life." Jane Austen (1814)

"Keep me away from the wisdom which does not cry, the philosophy which does not laugh and the greatness which does not bow before children." Kahlil Gibran

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I moved to SF a year ago. Unfortunately, my lease prohibits my offering a couch to visitors, but I'd love to connect with other Bay Area travelers at local events.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Spent a month at someone's flat in London. Enjoyed being able to grocery shop & cook when I felt like it. Was able to enjoy the "heart" of London without feeling like I had to rush anywhere.

Did the same in Hawaii and in South Africa....amazing how the couch or spare bed doesn't seem so lumpy when you think how much you would be paying for accomodations elsewhere. :o)

Interests

Intelligent conversation, interesting & unique individuals, the beauty surrounding me, music that moves me, art that lifts my spirit, nature and her majesty, books that inspire me, random moments or meetings that leave an impact,

TRAVELING, Hiking, kayaking, white water rafting, roller-blading, jogging on the beach, skydiving (only tandem so far), hot air ballooning, yoga, working out, martial arts, various modalities of massage & bodywork, cooking ethnic foods, BBQing, hanging out with good friends or making new ones, the ocean in all its glory...and the list could go on!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: The Peaceful Warrior is the latest inspiring movie I've seen. Can't believe I had never heard of the book before!

Books are my passion....constantly in the middle of at least half a dozen at one time. No room is left on the shelves, now they are stacked anywhere I can find space...coffee table, floor, trunk chest... :o)
A few I am reading at the moment: "Real Moments", "The Journey of Desire", "Ice Cream for Breakfast", "When You Look Like Your Passport Photo It's Time To Go Home", "Wisdom of Gibran", "Love Extravagantly", "Life Strategies"

Music: Andrea Bocelli, Pedro Godhino, Rivertribe, Tyler Walea, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Savage Garden, John Mayer, BB King, Boots Randolph, Norah Jones, Diana Krall, Il Divo, Sha-Shaty, Santana, pretty much every style of Jazz: gypsy, latin, cajun, swing, etc., Blues, Big Band, Classical, Instrumental, Soft Rock, Contemp. Country, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mmmm...WAY too many to stick w/just one. (smile!)

Summited Mt Whitney @ 14,500 ft. a few weeks ago and got caught in the rain on way back to camp. Said a prayer & left a written one in a crevice at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem,Israel. Hiked thru the caves of Cappodocia, Turkey (invited to dinner in a cave house they had built. Delightful old people & delicious food). Walked thru the ruins of Petra, Jordan by candlelight(met a bedouin family & drank tea w/them the next day). Had an amazing spiritual experience among the ruins of Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Spent the day wandering thru the ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru, met some of the archaeologists who have been working there the past four months.

Teach, Learn, Share

"Learning follows various roads. We note the start but not the end. For Time and Fate must rule the course. While we see not beyond the bend."---Kahlil Gibran

"Perplexity is the beginning of knowledge."
