ABOUT ME

I've been graced with my dream job for over 5 years, but now it's time to float towards the next thing. I'm embarking upon a one year sabbatical starting in November 2018. Hoping to meet inspiring people, learn life lessons and share my own through late night conversations, drinking your favourite local spirit.

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

Ten years ago I started couchsurfing and spent six months meeting people from various countries. I couldn't believe the kindness and openness that I received- people opening their homes to complete strangers, based upon the currency of trust. What I learned is that the world is a much more beautiful place than we are lead to believe, and humans are much better than we give ourselves credit for. There's a lot more to be said on that topic, so I'd love to share stories!

Interesses

I love to cook, listen to music, read, talk about lessons learned from travel, life, jobs, family, relationships, etc. If you're able to host me, you can point me towards the nearest local market and I'll manifest something for us to share in exchange for your hospitality.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

I tend towards documentaries- definitely anything with the voice of David Attenborough. Musically, as long as it's not featured on a top 40 station anywhere in the world, you'll likely find it on my spotify account. Nina Simone, early Beach House, Dirty Three, The Knife, Robert Schumann, Ethiopiques, some darker Scandinavian electronic. I'm currently reading and loving Tom Hodgkinson and doing my best to embrace the idea of being "idle" after 5 years of being heavily career focused.

Canadian star gazing, the Northern Lights and calving Glaciers in Alaska, pods of Orcas in the San Juan Islands, one otherworldly moment at a lake watching the sunset in Durango, Colorado. I completed a 4,000 mile road trip (then again by train) that crossed the western half of the US. A summer working in rural Ireland, several months traveling there and two years living in Dublin. Six months backpacking Europe. Houseboats in Spain, open markets in Sicily, Scandinavian disco, broken bones in Scotland.

I am really into cooking, food talk, slow cooking. I believe in REAL food, supporting farmers, getting my antioxidants from red wine. I'm a pescetarian who respects your right to have a double cheeseburger. I enjoy a strong americano and good conversation. I can teach you how to properly clean and cook mushrooms, taste wine, I love advising people on travel itineraries and exploring destinations.
