ABOUT ME
I joined Couch surfing to hopefully be able to meet people on a deeper level. Just being a tourist traveling through foreign lands, holds no interest to me . It is the relationships with people that makes a trip worth while, you can stay at home and watch the travel channel if all you want is pretty sites! I am a people person...
PHILOSOPHY
I try to live my life with an open heart and value the opportunities that come my way to share with others. I love the attitude that you reap what you sow in life and try to plant lots of seeds of joy and feel that I am rewarded with many wonderful friends that make my life very rich.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have a spare room in my home , and host whenever I can as I have not been able to travel the last few years and I enjoy giving back . I live with a very chill housemate that I hosted last summer who decided to make Asheville his home. We have a large garden , lots of flowers, eat healthy, do yoga... listen to good music etc..
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am so very grateful for all the amazing people that I have met through this community. I honestly feel like it has changed my life , opened me up, allowed me to trust even more to the incredible opportunity we have to share with one another.
I love it !
Interests
I love to travel, cook healthy meals , play ukulele, do Yoga , ride my bike , hike, row , swim , especially in waterfalls and lakes !I also have a pottery studio in my basement that I don't use enough...but used to enjoy working on the wheel making pots. I enjoy meeting people from different cultures and exchanging ideas and stories .
Music, Movies, and Books
I am very eclectic with my music taste and love many different styles from jazz to reggae, to classical.
I enjoy watching movies , again from a wide genre , not much for the violent ones. Just finished reading the China study, and was impressed with the argument for a vegan diet.I am currently reading a memoir from a local author who spent three years working in Uganda. I enjoy biographies and non-fiction true stories .
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most amazing things I have done , was traveled across the Indian Ocean from Zanzibar to Tanzania in a Dhow with 250 Africans loaded on top of cargo. I was the only white person in the boat and befriended two brothers from Kenya who spoke English and helped me to maintain my space amidst the crowded quarters. It was a 8 hr journey with no facilities , everyone just sat cramped in between all the bags of rice and goodwill clothes , it was quite the trip!
Teach, Learn, Share
I am currently learning the ukulele and it has surrounded me with many other musically inclined folks that have enriched my life with their melodies . I am also growing a sourdough starter and will be making my own bread every week !
