About Me

About me? I don't know. I do not know who or what I am, but this question is what drives me forward: I wish to find out what lies in the depths of psyce, what is the reason for being here, what was before and what will come after? What am I good at - in other words: what is my function in this delicate mechanism that is called the world?
I know nothing, yet I hope that I am or someday will manage to be a human being. No more, no less.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new people, to learn and absorb as much as I can and, if help those, I meet or at least try to as much as possible.
But the main reason is to visit places, which, otherwise I couldn't see due to financial issues. It may and most likely does sound egoistical, but I believe that when you're young and willing to risk, you must rely on others to help you, so you could one day return the favor to other young and brave persons who are on the road just like you were.

Music, Movies, and Books

If I had to name my favourite book, it would be DerSteppenwolf by Hermann Hesse. I read it first time when I was ten and since then I reread it at least once a year. It is still a mystery to me why I like that book so much, but, hoepfully, I will find out one day. As for the other authors - I love E. M. Remarque, especcialy Arch of Triumph. Carl Gustav Jung made a huge impact on my worldview. Goethe's Faust is just as big mystery to me, yet my dream is to one day stage it in theatre. Thomas Mann. Dante. Walt Whitman and his Songs of the open road. Nietzche, even if he scares me, there is something I love about him very much. Albert Camus and his The stranger, as well as Myth of Sisypus. Playwrights from antiquity. Eugene O'Neill. Dostoyevski! His Idiot, prince Myshkin is a role model, who, sadly can't be followed. At least not by me.

As for films.. There are a few names, that I follow and love. Tarkovsky. Fellini. Benigni. Bela Tarr. Kim Ki-Duk. Their films are like a barrometer, that I use to check myself and my values, to see if they haven't degraded since last time I've watched them. These auteurs remind me that we are not just meat and bones, that there are a lot more to a human being.
There are also others, like Lars von Trier who both scares me and how sad and empty our existance can be. Roy Andersson, reminding of absurd of the human life. David Lynch, Tsai Ming-Liang, Tengis Abuladze, Paradjanov, Stanley Kubrick and many others, who escape my mind at this time, must be mentioned as well.

Teach, Learn, Share

"Love and do what you will" said Saint Augustine and he was right. This, I believe is the essence of life. If you love this life, if you fall in love with those you meet, anything you'll do will be good, because when love takes holds of us, it is impossible to do anything evil.

"When love breathes in me, take note;
What he, within, dictates, I in that way,
Eithout would speak and shape"

Dante Alighieri.
