ABOUT ME

Hi I'm Danny! My pronouns are they/them. My partner Hannah also travels with me occasionally. I'm from the USA and am a traveler interested in learning and helping with sustainable agricultural and construction practices.

My background is in sports medicine, but I'm taking a year off to travel and pick up some new skills. It's been several years since my last couchsurf experience, but I'm excited to get back to it!

I speak intermediate Spanish and very basic Mandarin and Italian and would like to practice more.

I'm a decent cook and love hiking/backpacking. I tend to live quietly and read a lot.

In the past, we've interned on American and Italian farms, I've explored the Philippines, Hannah has celebrated Chinese New Year in China, and we've traveled Europe on the super cheap.

PHILOSOPHY

We like to enjoy our lives and learn new things and see new places. We want to make a difference on an individual level. We think everyone should slow down and stop being so rushed.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We will have a couch to share eventually. We'd also love to share all of our experiences with others, especially those who have been kind enough to share theirs with us, and meet new people all over the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've met some really wonderful people through couchsurfing from all over the place who have showed us their cities and really just taken us in. It's really showed us how good strangers can be.

Danny: I'm a fan of stovetop espresso in the morning and cooking all sorts of cuisines. I play the piano, preference of jazz. I've picked up some guitar and trumpet. I like to be outside, kayaking, running, or playing soccer/rugby. I really like to eat, especially to try foods I have never tried before. I like listening to people's stories.

Hannah: I am still figuring out what I want to do with my life. I like reading most things, especially if they're by women writers, and discussing things I read on the internet. (Danny says I'm a longform reading champ). I like playing tourist in my own town and I would love to see your pictures of your pets and your travels.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Danny: Together, I think going to Greece and being a part of a place and ancient time we had studied for so long was amazing. Being at dinner and looking up and seeing the Parthenon, visiting the sites of major battles, getting to sit in the only trireme in existence. That was pretty cool.

Hannah: Being on a farm in the middle of nowhere, smoking outside at night and looking up and seeing all those stars.

Not only seeing the Parthenon, but seeing ancient ruins resting in the basements of buildings, and knowing that the past was real. I know that sounds kind of silly, but sometimes it's hard to believe.

New Years in China, everyone setting off firecrackers and fireworks outside their apartments, so loud that you can hardly hear yourself. And the sky bursting with color. Making dumplings and making toasts to the sound of the new year. Red everywhere, even the sky.

We can help you with your English, especially written stuff. Danny plays the guitar and piano and can probably give you some starters. We want to learn anything you can teach us.

We have experience gardening and farming, especially in organic and sustainable methods. Hannah will reluctantly help you with Chinese.

We love swapping book, movie, and music recommendations (especially of the queer variety)
