About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I did a Romania couch search for kindred spirits and actually found too many people that I would like to get to know :) Mission-I can't be multiple places at once, so do and see as much as possible and make the most of every second!
ABOUT ME
I am hyperactive, passionate, loyal, and opinionated, but I love to learn new things so I am also open minded I hope... Do all those thigs go together? Ultimately I am Aussie and that says it all.
I love SO many things: see interests. Genuine people, smiling, sharing, language, night time, history, love, the future, growing, helping, changing.
And I hate a lot of things: pushing, frowning, inconsiderate or assuming behaviour, fake/dishonest/false behaviour, cruelty, plastic water bottles, the way humans destroy the world without caring for the consequences, social conventions that divide us, manners for the sake of manners.
But in the end I can't be objective when I talk about myself so if you want to know the truth you should look at my references... I might be too gregarious and drive you insane.
Adam is also a typical Aussie. In most things I would describe him the same as I describe myself, but he is definitely more laid back then me (typical bloke) and slightly more considerate of social conventions. He doesn't do nights after midnight and claims to have "retired from dancing" when we got married :P.
PHILOSOPHY
One can person can change the world, but only YOU can be that person...
"By your powers combined!"
If you wanna surf with me, you should write the above quote in your request. It will help your cause :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
For me CS is networking to restore faith in humanity. That is a stated objective, right? well, I believe it works. For years before I discovered "Couch Surfing" (LOVE IT!!) me and my best friend Sarah would invite backpackers that we met out home... And so the networks and global friendships grow. They invite their friends and their friends stay. Global relations and cultural awareness increase... YAY!
Now the CS website has made it so much easier. We used to invite people home whenever we thought someone was nice, but so often people thought we were strange for opening our house to strangers. Our Aussie friends even used to think we were crazy. But now with official CS there are reference and the surfer can trust the host, and the host can feel like you can trust the surfer.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
After a few times surfing, I have to say just how much better it has been than Hostels!!! It's not the free bed, it is the language, the culture, the tips, and the new FRIENDS. Of the people we have surfed with, we have not had a bad experience. And with half of our hosts, I have left feeling that they are true friends. How amazing in only a few days! I hope people with will think that of me when I host, and hope my hosts will always enjoy having me. It is all about adding sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows to the lives of those that would otherwise be strangers :)

UNOFFICIALLY HOSTING
Lots... too many too long ago.
Finnish guys we met in Townsville came and crashed with us in Sydney. A Scottish guy in Sydney for a month without the cash for a hostel. A brazilian girl we met on NYE came camping with us the next day and later surfed our couch for a month. Irish guys we met in Thailand surfed our couch in Sydney. More Germans we met... bring them home.
Interests
All water sports and activities (diving, snorkelling, sailing, kayaking, white water rafting... the list goes on).
Canyoning, rockclimbing, & hiking (with shoddy knees)
Animals (from apes & monkeys to birds & bees, to reptiles & turtles to big cats & wolves I am obsessed with wildlife. I repeat, obsessed).
Food (all varieties if they're vegie)
People. Especially people.
Languages... I plan to learn Hrvatski/Srbski and Khmer and Slovak in my near future because the pittance of words I can say is not enough, and the beauty of the countries will always draw me back :)
