After graduating university in the United States I decided to hop on a plane to live abroad. I have now been living and working in Lyon, France for the past two years with plenty of free time on my hands to see more of the world and learn more languages.

I have a slight (very real) coffee addiction.

Food is life and I have been known to eat more than what should be physically possible for my body.

I'm not a photographer but I enjoy taking photos of daily moments and creating a visual journal. So don't be surprised if you see me whip out a camera.

I get restless being stationary anywhere for too long so I like going where life may take me wherever that may be. I'm also a big believer in walking as much as possible in a new city.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To bring a part of my culture and to learn about a part of the culture of the people I'm staying with. I enjoy connecting to people that live in the city and seeing it through their eyes.

Interests

I love love love traveling.

I also like meeting people, which is the point of this whole thing, right? I like to hear people's life story and what they're all about.

I am over-ambitiously trying to learn all the languages. Well.. at least French, Spanish, Italian, and German for now. We'll see about the others.

I studied English literature and linguistics so it's no big surprise I like reading (a.k.a. big book nerd). I have also been known to start talking about French and English linguistics and the 1066 Normandy Conquest after having two glasses of wine, but I will try to control myself.

I also enjoy watching good and bad films, listening to music, writing, and painting scenery.

Music, Movies, and Books

I will watch anything Wes Anderson. I'm a big fan of his story-telling. I also have a soft spot for campy films or self-referential films.

The best TV show is Arrested Development. Also just binge-watched Stranger Things and I am up for seriously discussing the upside down.

Music is a mix between indie pop, rock, folk, rap and alternative.

Favorite book is The Good Soldier.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Everything. From jumping off cliffs in Arizona, hiking 2500 meters high in the French Alps, taking a two month road trip from Tennessee to California, caving in Ardèche with a French local, and kayaking on the Mediterranean sea.. it's hard to choose one.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can sing the 50 states of the USA in alphabetical order and I'm double-jointed, so that's cool.

I can also teach English, 1000 words in French, fifty words in Spanish, and three in Italian.
