Overview
About Me
Well, I'm a travelling teacher from the UK, who has taken a year away from the UK system, in order to learn from education approaches abroad, as well as the enriching cultural experiences that are inevitably entailed. As seems compulsory for all teachers up to this game, I have written a blog, so you can see my thoughts and experiences so far, at: http://hadleigh1.blogspot.com/
I love meeting new people, and my year so far, has been such an amazing and profound experience in so many ways. I hope that I can continue it...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In order to accomplish this diverse teaching experience, I have had to accept placements within interesting schools on a voluntary basis, which has given me the flexibility to move after a few months. However, one main drawback is that I have had to be extremely careful with how I spend the little money I have.
I am very flexible, and even spent one night on a hard stone floor in a temple in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. I was so exhausted, sleep came easily enough!

Music, Movies, and Books
Too many to mention here. And if I leave some off the list, I will feel like I've betrayed them. Let's save this for talking, when we meet! (Much better)
Luckily, at the rural Thai school I've been at for the last 3 months, I have been able to learn the ukulele, as all the students play it here. I love trying to get better (love the African Djembe too)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Impromptu speeches in front of an audience, this year, has made me proud of how far I've stretched myself. Also, going for some proper singing in front of some university student monks, in Colombo, Sri Lanka; they were so thirsty for music, there was no way I could say no, and this experience will stay with me forever!
Teach, Learn, Share
So much to explore - so much to learn - movement through this beautiful world helps oil the mechanisms of the mind and heart...
What I Can Share with Hosts
Some honest reflections on this shared kaleidoscope of experiences we call 'life' & a desire to listen and exchange significant experiences and earthly passions - to feel more deeply connected and less alone in the world. I am an educationalist, and have a passion to teach. I can certainly teach English well, if this is needed... but, I enjoy music and dancing, laughing and learning, and I know I've an infectious enthusiasm to share the finer things in life .... I can fit into most social situations, without needing to take over.
