About Me
Hi, I'm Hailey! I've just finished a year as an Assistant English Teacher in Iwate Prefecture, and it's my goal to travel everywhere before starting a new job as a Chemistry Teacher in Cameroon in May!
I love studying and speaking French, and I enjoy improv comedy and writing stand-up, hiking, cooking, and talking to people of different cultures.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm looking to meet locals living in all the places I'm visiting so that I can really get to know the cities- an experience that's hard to get in hostels and almost impossible at hotels. I love learning about local hangouts, the do's and don'ts of everyday life, and how people relate to each other in different countries. I'm also hoping I can share some of what I've learned about U.S. and Japanese culture with you!
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Magic System, Davido, Maitre Gims, ONE OK ROCK, Kid Ink, Sauti Sol, Kill Paradise
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I finished a 38 km trail race (somehow) involving three mountains and a 600m elevation gain in the last 4km.
I've also travelled 500km (and spent over $200 USD) to perform a 3-minute comedy stand-up show in Tokyo... it might have been a waste of money but hey gotta start somewhere
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach English, anything you might want to know about organic chemistry (long shot, I know) and how to make bread by yourself. I can also help you run a fundraiser or organize an event, if you're interested.
I'd like to learn French, Japanese, breakdancing or hip hop dancing, and how to make Japanese food at home. And how to surf. But that's a long shot.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A lot of bad jokes, but hopefully some you will laugh at. Also dancing. Also I will do all your dishes and am a master at cleaning bathrooms and bedrooms.
