ABOUT ME

I was born under the sign of Sagittarius, in the year of Monkey and possess blood type AB. But screw that pseudo-science that you would find on the Internet to predict what those things can say about my lineament. Assume I am Water or Sand or Air. I have no solid form. I am flexible and I can twist to fit the mold; but never take for granted I would stay one way forever.

I treat people with the way I want to be treated; thus most of the time, I am a nice, decent and honest human being. Hardly would anything get ugly between me and another individual; but when it does, I know the fault is partly mine.

I can be very angry at times when people betray my trust. Hot-headed and impatient with anything dishonest.

PHILOSOPHY

"DESIDERATA" by Max Ehrmann (1927) says it all:

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can occasionally host and show you around Montreal or Ho Chi Minh city. The place I'm living has a spare bedroom so we can arrange it. Or you can sleep on the couch, if you like as well :D When I can't, I am willing to give you a free tour around the cities :) Mostly, I'm here to look for a couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed three different places in three different countries recently, i.e, Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. They are all nice experiences which lead me to many new horizons and explore some hidden potentials that I have not known of before.

So far I haven't been very active because of school and work, but soon I will be traveling again :)

Interests

I take a peculiar passion in observing people quietly from afar. I enjoy working and volunteering whenever I can. Very old-fashioned, I take a pleasure in talking about philosophies and life ideals with strangers over a cup of coffee.

Gaming, music and art are also my cup of tea.

Having someone who is more knowledgeable than me talk and teach me new things too. Tell me stories if you can.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I was a movie geek for awhile then school forced me to give up my goal of becoming an independent movie critic. I am now still into that aspect of avant-garde art. My favorite genres are psychological horror (like American Psycho or Confession) and animation (my favorite ones are "Up", "Fox and the Greyhound" as well as "Mary and Max" but basically I welcome all types of movies that can actually "touch" viewers. "Up in the air" is one movie I would use to describe myself in most parts. One may say I love weird, rare music. Recently most listened to artists are The Glitch Mob, Oasis, Mika, Odesza, Coldplay, Mogwai, and a bunch of random covers or remixes I came by. To me, all kinds of music are to be appreciated as long as the artists do exert themselves into what are played.

Books: Truth be told, I love bookstores and libraries. I love that feeling when you are surrounded by books and bookshelves that seem to go forever till they reach the ceiling. Nonetheless, I don't necessarily read all of them. My favorite books are Catcher in the Rye and Kafka on The Shore.

Well, I guess I can teach you Vietnamese and basic French... No? Then how about riding a bike? :D Or some vegan research bits I take from here and there.
