About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Back in Europe for a while!

ABOUT ME

Simple things make me happy: a good cup of coffee, learning to speak a new language, a favourite song on the radio, a hug from a friend, a walk through a foreign city, talking and laughing into the wee small hours...

I'm kinda shy when it comes to meeting new people, but I'm getting better at it, and I've made lots of new friends on my travels. I lived in Daejeon, South Korea, for 4 years, where I taught English to 5-8 year olds. And I loved it! :) Moved back to Europe to make it easier to visit home. Tried Prague, didn't like it, quit and have just moved to Istanbul. Looks great... might stick around for a while!

PHILOSOPHY

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness." - Mark Twain

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Staying with a friend now, but hopefully will find a flat big enough to be a CS host. But until then I'd still love to meet up with anyone who'd like to go for a coffee, or get dinner, or do some sight-seeing together. Feel free to send me a message!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I CouchSurfed a lot when I was backpacking, and have stayed in touch with many of the people I met through it. I hope to soon give back just as much as I got from those experiences!

Interests

Writing, travelling, reading, food and drink, languages, coffee, singing along at concerts, walking on beaches, trying new things, learning, exploring.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like lots of fiction, from classic to horror to sci-fi. I watch comedies, and also tend to get addicted to TV shows like Breaking Bad and Homeland. My attention span is generally too short for movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Camped in a Mongolian ger on the edge of the Gobi desert after going horseriding on formerly wild horses over the Steppes at sunset. Life is beautiful!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn about different cultures, backgrounds, lifestyles, beliefs, and experiences. I'm not interested in politics and statistics, but rather in *real* people, emotions, friendship, love, living.

And while I'm in Istanbul - if you speak Turkish, teach me some new phrases, and I'll help you with English or French in return!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, China, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Mongolia, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, South Korea, Switzerland, United Kingdom
