About Me

I love our planet and believe that all living beings are deeply connected. I'm an activist for animal liberation, social justice, indigenous rights, and climate justice. I enjoy hugging animals and trees (ok.. maybe some humans, too, haha)

I love traveling. I want to experience the entire world and every culture! I enjoy hearing about other people's travel experiences as well as sharing mine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because making new connections is a gift and an opportunity to learn and grow and connect and get an insight into other people's journeys (both types).

Also important: It makes travel more affordable and therefore more travel possible! It's a win-win for host and guest, good karma, and strengthens global community-building.

Interests

I like to contemplate about the meaning of life and also how it feels for animals.

  • travel
  • world politics
  • world food
  • international politics

Music, Movies, and Books

These books have shaped my world view and lifestyle:
Animal Farm, by George Orwell
1984, by George Orwell
Siddhartha, by Hermann Hesse
Ishmael, by Daniel Quinn
A New Earth, by Eckhart Tolle
Peace is Every Step, by Thich Nhat Hanh
Non-Violent Communication, by Marshall Rosenberg

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went to Standing Rock and joined the indigenous struggle against the Dakota Access Pipeline. It was a life-changing experience that will stay with me forever. At Oceti Sakowin camp, I saw what kind of world is possible and we must strive for. A world that is kinder to Mother Earth, fellow Earthlings, and sustainable. Not this. Not Capitalism.

Teach, Learn, Share

Halfway through a long flight to the Middle East, I was at the back of the plane, stretching. A Sikh sage came there too and, out of the blue (ha!) asked me "Are you enjoying your life?" That simple question guided me to periodic reflection and contemplation. Because isn't that what it's really all about, and aren't we always distracted by just surviving capitalism?
