Hey dear traveller;

My name is Hakan and I live in Düzce, a little city in the north west coast of Turkey. I'm 28 and i work as a teacher for the time being.. I teach English and French in a language school in the city center. I'm also a volunteer for a local ngo which focuses on social issues. Before I was a teacher, I worked as a musician, news reporter, international tradesman, project cordinator and hostel manager. Right now, I live with my family and enjoy my precious time with them. My mission is to save enough money to start my travel to Asia as soon as possible.

As a person, I'm friendly, curious, positive, outgoing, sensitive, playful, stubborn, energetic, caring, trustworthy, romantic, dreamer, creative and sometimes talkative.. I'm very very clumsy. I'm not a funny guy but I love people who makes me smile and laugh.I consider myself as an open-minded person. I never judge people for the way they are and I think I don't have any prejudice about people. I've lost them all in time. I enjoy sincerity and try to avoid small talk. I like to feel the variety of cultures and personal back ground of each person I meet.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

Since my childhood, I was always curious about the outhern world.. I was wondering the concept of being a foreigner for another person and I always wanted to learn more about the others.. That's no wonder I chose to study languages and music, two ways of global communication. I was so happy to travel abroad for the first time and after I couldn't stop myself from travelling, it was never enough to discover, share and expand. When I couldn't travel, I hosted a lot of surfers which let me breath an international atmosphere around me. Besides, I love the energy of kinetic people. I hosted more than 20 surfers especially when I was a hostel manager. I spared a room for surfers and they offered to paint my walls and make music etc. Some of them stayed very long and I'm very happy to have those precious moments. Right now, because I'm working to save money for my travel, I can't move a lot. But people who move will be welcome in my house..

Intereses

I love reading. I've read a lot and I still do. Sometimes I read 4 different books at the same time.. I enjoy playing volleyball. This is a very nice sport for me because I don't like running unless I need to do it. I'm a fan of Fenerbahçe football team and I enjoy watching their matches. I like swimming, but not as a sport. I enjoy being inside of water. I love listening to music. I often sleep with music. I have a very nice archive with many different genres and I will be happy to share. I like playing guitar and keyboard. But I'm not crazy about it. Because I worked as a musician and just because of this experience, it's not like a hobby to me anymore. But I still like it. I enjoy cooking. I like improvising while I'm cooking. I love taking care of plants. I like observing them. I'm very interested in occult wisdom and practices. I like meditating a lot. I often meditate and raise my energy. I'm in love with travelling I think this is my passion. First I want to travel with my backpack, then I want to have a truck or a caravan to travel overland and then I dream of having a sailing boat to travel overseas! And if i can achieve one, or two or three of them, finally I want to buy a very big land far from everything and build my forest and live there naturally!

Música, películas y libros

I studied a lot about French litterature. I know all the literal movements and their writers. I cant limit it just the books I've read as they are many. But I like absurdism and existentialism lately. My favourite writers are Albert Camus, Jean Jacques Rousseau, Jules Verne, Tolstoy, Friedrich Nietzsche and Mannly P. Hall.

I love movies of Quentin Tarantino, Coen Brothers, Robert Rodriguez, Roman Polanski, Emir Kustirica.. I enjoy the imagination of Tim Burton and I wonder about the depth of David Lynch.. My favourite actors are Johnny Depp and Buscemi. My favourite actresses are Uma Thurman and Scarlet Johansonn.

I like progressive trance, electronica, soul, chill out, indie, alternative rock, reggeae, experimental and industrial music.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

As I live with my family, I can't share a private room and I can only host 1 person at a time. I can share my food, my bathroom, my house and my room :)

Next doors I have 2 different cousins. 3 flats next to each other we all live together and share everything. We are 9 people in total. My dad, my mum, my sister, my aunt, my cousin, my another cousin, his wife and their little daughter.. It's very fun to have a crowded family. Usually they stay awake until 5 a.m. There is always another scene in every flat, so it's cool.

I recommend you to join me if you want to experience everday life of a middle class family in Turky and if you are okay to stay with a crowded family. Because you will never have a privacy :)
