About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn, Live, Love

ABOUT ME

I think life is to have fun. I'm passionate about people, have a desire to learn from others. Traveling and meeting new people, sharing life, and having beautiful memories are my missions. Experiencing life to the fullest with friendly people makes everything in life easier and happier.

For sure, I can pay a couple of compliments to myself. :) However, it always seems a bit selfish to me, flattering yourself with fancy words, so I would like you to view some of the comments/references about me. It could open a little window to me and give you a little perspective about me. :)

PHILOSOPHY

- Help people who need it.
- Treat others the way you want to be treated.
- Smile to the world, and the world smiles back at you.
- Always try to do nice things to make the world a better place.
- Enjoy your life, and let people enjoy their life.
- Live your today, like your last day.
- Laugh when you can, apologize when you should, and let go of what you can't change, kiss slowly, forgive quickly, play hard, take chances, give everything, and have no regrets. Life is too short to be ANYTHING BUT HAPPY!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participated in the Erasmus Student Exchange Program in 2014 in Bydgoszcz/Poland. One of my primary purposes of being there was making new friends and exploring the cities of my dreams with deep knowledge of places and the spirit of traveling. So, I have decided to make excursion plans. But I have realized something; I am not particularly eager to travel with people I already know. It is not as exciting as doing it all by yourself while meeting new people in new cities, with courage, full autonomy, and independence. (That is the way I like it! :) I have learned later)
Nowadays, I have heard about Couchsurfing from a friend and started to read the organization's site, rules, and procedures- this excited me very much! I realized that it is a beautiful opportunity to meet new people worldwide, share my culture, learn, get some experience from lovely people, have a good time at the same time.

Right after my Erasmus adventure, I was back home, started hosting and helping people in their journeys, as they did for me.
Being part of Couchsurfing was and still is a fantastic experience for me from the beginning. I want to keep meeting and hosting people from all over the world as much as I can.

COUCH SURFING EXPERIENCE

The first time, I have surfed at Kasia's couch without any references. She hasn't known me, but she treated and trusted me like an old friend. I was impressed by her, and I admired her; she gave me very nice thoughts and feelings about Couchsurfing and made me open myself to the world with more courage. :)

I surfed the couches in Krakow, Berlin, Vienna, Sopot, Stockholm, Malta, Oslo, Adana, Warsaw, Gdynia, Baltimore, Boston.

I hosted people from Russian Federation, Germany, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, France, Turkey, Hungary, Tatarstan Republic, Iran, Ukraine, Canada, and Thailand.

Great meetings. All lovely people!

Interests

Playing tennis is one of my passions (I can do that for 3 hours every single day if I could find a partner who wants to play as much. :)

I like cycling to nature and taking some time, enjoying being in natural life, feeling the wind, listening to birds, and water, smelling the earth, and feeling the silence and peace inside.

I love traveling with knowledge and awareness of the places, meeting local people, and experiencing what the tourist attraction booklets do not offer.

Cooking, but much more sharing my cooking with friends and seeing the smile on their faces while they're eating.

I enjoy tracking in mountainous regions, forests. It always makes me a peaceful man.

Eating. Food is special to me. I can say that I am a foodie like most people are. My hometown, Antakya, is a gastronomy city; it has its own 600 recipes. I grew up eating excellent delicious healthy food. Apart from that, I also enjoy trying new cuisine.

I have been trying to implement a healthier lifestyle with clean food- regular exercise-good sleep. I believe that our body is our temple; it will treat us the way we treat it.

Of course, Medicine! I feel blessed with the opportunity to go to one of the best medical schools in the country. I immensely enjoyed being a medical student. After graduation, I started working as a general practitioner at a community health center in a rural, underserved area. I love helping people very much; in a way, not most people are fortunate to do. Because I love my job very much, I have become better at it over time. One of my primary goals is to become an excellent physician who saves lives and makes the world a better place by helping people with his knowledge and human sensitivity.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy movies like almost everybody; I especially like comedy dramas. I have an archive, which includes more than 50 movies; I believe they are worth watching. I love Woody Allen movies, especially Annie Hall, Manhattan, Whatever Works, Anything Else, Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid To Ask, and Everyone Says I Love You.

I have watched some incredible TV series, which I sincerely recommend: The Office (US), It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Two and a Half Men, House MD, Prison Break, The Big bang Theory, Game of Thrones, Seinfeld, Louie, Scrubs...

Stand-up comedians, I laugh at and admire: Louis CK, Bill Burr, Jerry Seinfeld, George Carlin, Dave Chappelle.

I enjoy listening to acoustic music and solo piano performances. Some of my favorite guitarists: Sungha Jung, Valentin Henry, Tony McManus. Some of my favorite piano players: Yiruma, Ludovico Einaudi, Emma Dean, Yann Pierre Tiersen(He is also a great player of many instruments).
I also enjoy listening to Eric Clapton, Eddie Vedder, Fiona Apple, Joshua Radin.

I like reading all kinds of books. I am delighted to read: Thomas More- Utopia; Adam Fawer-Improbable; Aziz Nesin-Yaşar Ne Yaşar, Ne Yaşamaz; Franz Kafka-The Metamorphosis; Vladimir Bartol-Alamut.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was born and have taken a breath. Lucky to be alive, thinking of the odds of me being my family's baby! :)

I witnessed births and helped obstetricians when I was in fourth grade in OB/GYN clerkship. Before I finished my clerkship, I wanted to help majorly during delivery, not only observe. Thanks to Doctor S., who let me help majorly than usual, I held a pregnant lady's hand, helped her calm down, and gave a normal vaginal birth to a baby boy. It was a fascinating experience.

I have seen many deaths and autopsies in my career. These experiences repeatedly reminded me how a fantastic machine a human body is, also made me realize how easy it is to die. We should appreciate every day we are alive and should not miss any second of life because it is too short and as short as beautiful.

I am a part of Couchsurfing. I believe this is one of the most amazing things I've ever done.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am open to all kinds of friends; I like sharing and making life fun.
I like to know the local people where I visit and have a great time together.
I can teach you something about medicine, playing tennis, cooking some traditional cuisine.
I enjoy sharing my experiences and perspective in life.
I am also very interested in listening to people who are passionately attached to something and have addictions to talk about them.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good time. Helpful knowledge. Delicious food. A lovely couch.

Time is money :)

Knowledge is power :)

To survive, all you need is food :)
(maybe some water too)

Hopefully, not a couch, but a comfortable mattress :)
