ABOUT ME

I finished a degree in elementary education at Indiana University. This year I started teaching Hebrew school. I have been consistently working within the LGBT community for the last 8 years.

I am a spontaneous person and I love forcing myself to try knew things.

One of my favorite things to do is to put myself in crazy learning situations. One example is the Inside-Out program where I went to a prison for 3 hours a week to take a class with students within the prison. its something that most people would never experience! I could definitely say the experienced changed my life.

I'm also a first generation American.

PHILOSOPHY

Everyone has something to teach everyone else and to not try to learn these things about everyone we meet is just a waste.

Take any opportunity that seems worth your while even if that means losing some Z's

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

New***I want to experience Australia through the heart of a local. I want to go beyond the surface.

OLD***I am trying to find local people to show me around Amsterdam and the surrounding areas. Many of my American classmates seem to neglect this aspect of study abroad and they only interact with their fellow students. I want to know more amsterdam from the people who know it best. I want to meet with people off of here and know the real back stories that my peers could never tell me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never couch surfed other then friends and family but I am excited to try it!

My friend David said he loved to CS and is always telling me about his experiences on here.

Interests

I am a GLBT activist with a concentration in helping queer youth.

I am Jewish and love meeting Jews all over the world. But that doesn't mean I am just looking to meet Jews. I want to meet people from all walks of life.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love the show big brother, but, I have only watched the American/Canadian version. I am basically a huge fan of reality competition shows. (I know it didnt ask about shows but still :p)

I love music I can jam too and dance around to.

I love watching series and documentaries on netflix.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to china when i was 13 and had a life altering experience.

I was also in this program called Inside Out for 4 months. We went to a local prison for 3 hours a week and had a class that was made up of 12 prison students and 12 University students. We came in as strangers with preconceived notions and left with a family type bond. This class changed my life forever. I was sad for it to end.

I wanted to know more about Orthodox Judaism. I went to a program for 3 weeks to discover what it looks like from the inside. I do not identify as such, but now when speaking to people, I have a different perspective on the subject.

Friending Our Foes - This is a workshop I run that helps people have meaningful dialogues with people they strongly disagree with. I have presented this to over 100 people. I have people debate openly to model good behavior.
