About Me

//Just came back home from a over a year of travelling & volunteering// I'm not sure yet about hosting, it'll depend on the time-period & whether I'm in Cairo for the dates or travelling around Egypt//

I used to live in Dubai for work for almost three years, me & that city never got a long very well, but it was the reason I met loads of brilliant people from around the globe & helped me save up so I can do a whole lot of travelling!

Now i just came back from my first long-term travels. I've started in May 2016 and backpacked through some of Europe and Asian. I tried to volunteer wherever I go,take pictures, make movies, sketch, do freelance graphic design & meet all the lovely people out there!

I grew up in Egypt, lived for 6 months in Aarhus, Denmark where I studied multimedia journalism (which was absolutely brilliant, and gave me the chanve to work at Roskilde music festival, woop!).

I've been told I'm kinda silly, I have a fish brain memory but that hasn't endangered my life yet (phew!), I like mountains & street food, stars are the first thing I check for when I get to a new place and I absolutely suck at dancing, but still do it anyway.

You can see some of my travel photos here: https://www.instagram.com/makhloufian/

Random thought: Fortunate coincidences are pretty awesome.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's been wonderful everytime i join a CS hang out or stay with a host. The community you get to meet through CS is truly inspiring.

I've been moving a lot lately, so I mostly occupy people's couches. Thanks generous people of the world! Some of the best people I've ever met are the ones I encounter on the road.

Since I just came back home for a few months, I'd like to help out CSers that want to travel around Egypt. If my couch isn't free, I can show you around or at least help you out with recommendations.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch surfed with my Aussie friend in Prague. Sweet guy..beautiful city.

A friend & I stayed with three very interesting italian guys in Milan. Doesn't really get any better than having a photographer, an architect and a make-up artist under one roof. Except maybe them making us risotto and the yummiest espressos!

I haven't been couch surfing for a bit, I've been mostly in hostels for the last few trips, but now on for my longer term travels I'm excited to get back to it.

Interests

Traveling to wherever my feet can take me! Always on a budget, besides being necessary, it's way more fun. I like making short movies on the road, making old school animation shorts & filling up sketchbooks.

I also listen to a whole lot of music & my one true love is my dog Bronco (pictured). Yes he is as awesome as he looks.

Music, Movies, and Books

Classic rock, indie and alternative music mostly. (From fleetwood mac to Bon Iver and everything in between or on the extremes)

Favorite movie: Rear window
Favourite book: Can't decide, still too many books left to read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Don't think I've personally done something amazing haha! but so many brilliant things happen all the time. I'm lucky to have seen a beautiful display of the milky way in India's kashmir. I got the chance to hike up to Tiger's nest in Bhutan. Somehow, I ended up sneaking into an abandoned prison in Estonia. And i got to High five a sea turtle while scuba diving in Malaysia. And I thank my lucky stars to have met a lot of amazing people everywhere.

Teach, Learn, Share

Almost every person I met while travelling left me with something amazing; a new skill, a good conversation, a chain of laughs and always a new friendship. People are a blessing!
