Overview
About Me
Anna was born and raised in Arkansas but headed to Yellowstone National Park after college at the suggestion of her parents to "do something random". That was a few years ago...
Haley grew up perpetually stuck in the traffic of hot, sticky Atlanta. Tired of the view through a windshield, she opted for a change of scenery and headed across the pond to the rainiest city in England to finish her bachelor's degree. She figured Yellowstone was a good transition to the "real world" but realized that transition could take longer than expected.
In Yellowstone we met and fell in love--at work, Anna my supervisor! Forget dates to the movies, the town coffeeshop or that fancy restaurant you take someone to impress them. We began our romance taking long drives, animal watching and having picnics on the beaches of Yellowstone Lake as the sun set.
We thought we were ready to make the transition to non-Park life last fall and road-tripped far and wide in search of the next place to call home. Our quest took us on an epic, 9-week, 10,000-mile road trip to ~25 cities in fall of 2015, but we were disappointed to discover that no place really felt like home. So, in March of 2016, we got back on the road for a much shorter trip to check out Oregon and Washington. The feels were better in those places, but life had different plans for us--we moved to Germany.
It was both a compromise and a no-brainer. We were contacted for jobs we had almost forgotten we applied for and with much debate and ultimately a whatdowehavetolose? attitude, we ditched most of our belongings, stored the rest in our families' crawlspaces and attics and packed a few bags to move across the world. We're here for 15 months working some, traveling a bit and eating a lot.
We have realized the West has stolen our hearts and there is really no going back to the hustle and bustle of Eastern cities once you've lived in the vast expanse of Wyoming and shadows of Montana's many mountain ranges. So, we're taking it step-by-step, with plans to return to Yellowstone post-Germany. If you're curious why, just ask!
But in short: We crave the outdoors, the smell of a campfire and the calm of a blue sky. Our weekends are best spent backpacking or car camping on a lake. We enjoy a swanky cocktail bar every now and then but there's nothing like a hole in the wall locals-only with an asshole bartender.
Chacos are our shoe of choice. We've realized that you can take the girls out of the South but you can't take the South out of the girls-we're not snow people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We're casual. We've spent our fair share of time in hotels and hostels but there's no satisfaction in returning to a strange, empty room at the end of an amazing day of exploring. We'd rather talk good food and see a local band play with a host than flip through channels on a hotel TV.
Interests
Haley: Bacon. And discussing travel, traveling, eating, eating, eating, reading, riding in trains, playing with anyone and everyone's dogs, and getting lost!
Anna: Bravo TV shows, fishing (she's a former fishing guide), cooking, eating, BEER.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We spent 9 weeks and 10,000 miles in a jam-packed Honda Accord together. And we'd do it all again. If it's not amazing for a couple to survive the trials of navigation, highway tolls and the nuances of being a woman who loves coffee but has a bladder the size of a pregnant woman (Anna) than I give up on trying to understand a successful relationship!
What I Can Share with Hosts
We work in hospitality and have endless stories to make you laugh (and cry).
We cook a bombass breakfast! We are total carnivores so if meat isn't a staple of your diet, we'll have to work towards a compromise. Anna is more open-minded to vegetarian cooking than Haley (who believes bacon could solve most of the world's conflicts) but she's currently exploring her culinary interests by preparing more meatless meals.
