About Me

Hi there! My name is Halyna, but friends call me Halya. I'm 19 years old and study international relations at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Even though studying takes helluva of time I always try to find a day or two to spend on travels, even if it ia a trip to another neighbourhood of Kyiv :) I am a student of University of Latvia for the near three months so I hope to use all the opportunitie the new country gives me for travelling. I have already visited several European countries but I used to stay in hotels so now I am eager to discover an another option - to live with a native to soak into a new culture.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Being a student, I can't spend a lot of money on luxurious hotels with breakfest included, so I want to see as much world as possible even though I don't have sufficient means for that. But it's not only lack of money which drives me to join couchsurfers'community, but (what is much more important) it is a desire to discover the world and people who live in it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can't name a particular genre of music I like. Open my playlist and you will find everything from One Direction's songs I used to listen to when I was 12 to Ludovico Einaudi's symphonies. That rule is applyable to films too (but not when it comes to horrors! I am not brave enough for that!). And what about books? I am a fan of antiutopian stories, and I have also read all the books about Harry Potter;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Imagine walking through all Kyiv city on foot. 40 kilometres. At one night. That's exactly what I did this autamn just because I was feeling bored ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I don't promise to teach you how to speak Ukrainian because it is an extremely difficult language but with me you will learn all the basic phrases necessary to communicate with people when you will visit Kyiv one day (I hope). Furthermore, I'll teach you to cook borshch and varenyky or sing Ukrainian songs or whatever ;)

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Sweden

Countries I’ve Lived In
