So, about me: I grew up in the Scottish Highlands but now live in Veneto where I teach English. For my seventh Christmas my parents gave me a globe because I spent so much time looking at all the exotic sounding places in atlases. In my mid-twenties I began visiting them and a decade later I've seen a lot, but a lot is never enough!

I met one of the Couchsurfing founders in a Bucharest hostel in 2008 so gave it a shot. I didn't have a lot of luck with it. I've since heard so many good reports I thought I'd give it another shot.

I end up travelling to a lot of places without hostels where there is no pub culture and very few people speak English. I hope that Couchsurfing will make meeting locals with whom I can communicate well enough much easier. Then I can learn more about their home town than I would have otherwise. In return I can tell them everything they'd like to know about Scottish football.

兴趣

Aside from travel, sport is my biggest passion. They go together very well and aside from too many Partick Thistle football games and Edinburgh Capitals hockey matches I've been to the home games of Gaziantepspor, FC Vaduz, Keramin Minsk and Ak Bars Kazan amongst others and was a season ticket holder at HC TPS in Finland.

My profile picture is taken from a 2008 full page article about me in top-selling Slovak tabloid Novy Cas. It is truly amazing that they wasted a page talking about a Scotsman travelling to Slovakia to watch a hockey game.
