About Me

Hi everyone, my name is Han and I'm currently living in Onomichi, Japan, working on the JET Programme as a teacher in elementary and junior high schools. I have just graduated from university in the UK, and during those last few years I have begun to engage with the fantastic Couchsurfing community whilst travelling abroad. Now I am living in Japan, I am hoping to make the most of my unique opportunity for further travel in the area!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I first used Couchsurfing when I went travelling in the United States four years ago, and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to use it again as much as possible whilst travelling in Japan a couple of summers back. On both occasions I loved meeting lots of new people, and I have had many of my best experiences travelling whilst with my Couchsurfing hosts. I enjoyed staying with people who knew the places I visited best, and because of this I would like to use Couchsurfing again as often as I can, and hopefully be able to return the favour.

Interests

I am passionate about acting, the theatre and literature in general. I was an English literature student, and I am interested in the literature, art, music and film of my home country; now I'm living in Japan, I'm eager to learn as much as I can about the culture of my new home too.

I also enjoy both playing and watching rugby, so I am very excited to be in Japan during the Rugby World Cup!

I love the films of Yasujiro Ozu and Satoshi Kon, have started reading Souseki, Murakami and Ishiguro , and have seen some artworks by Hokusai, Hiroshige, Kusama at exhibitions in England, but I want to learn much more about Japanese culture whilst I have the opportunity to live here.
