Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm Hana, 18 years old, and grew up in a city near Toronto Canada. I moved out of my childhood home to Germany alone in September 2017 to do a voluntary social year in culture in Lübeck, a city in northern Germany. This time abroad has taught me about independence, and about my own roots. The next chapter for me is spending a year travelling more before I go to University (in Germany!).
I grew up fully bilingual (English/German) near Toronto with Egyptian/German roots. Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area is one of the most multicultural places in the world, so together with the fact that my parents come from different continents than the one I grew up in, I grew up with a respect for different cultures already instilled in me.
I love spending time in nature and being active outside. I also love exploring, whether it be in a city or a natural park. In my time travelling I hope to exchange stories and learn new things, try new food, and see things that surprise me. I hope to develop and grow, and become more independent.
I'd like to see a little more of the world, and I love the idea of staying with other people and making connections that way. I think this website and the idea behind it is so valuable, and beneficial for all people involved!
Thanks for reading!
Hana
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm freshly moved out on my own and am absolutely operating on a budget. Still, I'd love to travel to different places and get an authentic feel for what it's like to really live in a specific city, not just as a typical tourist.
I'd love to hear people's advice on how to get the most out of a stay in a city, and simply meet new people, especially locals. I love the idea of people helping people and connecting with each other through that.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like to read some fiction but mostly non-fiction books in a broad spectrum about whatever I'm curious about lately. The last ones have been "Sapiens," "Mating in Captivity," and "The Wu-li of Modern Physics." Chronic book-starter but not finisher!
I also listen to music across mostly all genres, not so much metal and punk. I love Feist (she's Canadian!).
I like to watch nature documentaries, but also trashy romances.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Helped organize and attended various protests! Love exercising my right to peaceful protest.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to learn more about food from different countries, especially through home-cooking.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Cooking skills, being tidy, and a good attitude! as well as an open-ness to conversation and day trips :D.
