Some broad strokes of who I am: I have been living in Strasbourg, France for the last 6 years and I absolutely adore my city. I came to Strasbourg for my Sociology degree and stayed here thanks to all the other opportunities that came afterwards...

I grew up in Istanbul/Turkey for most of my early days, I spent a significant portion of my younger days in the United States (Boston/MA & Columbus/OH). Therefore I am what they call a Turkish-American citizen of the world.

I am crazy about food (eating & cooking), I love reading (as required by my job as well), I am a cinephile, and I am very keen on learning and unlearning things about individuals and societies. I can talk about existential reflections and my field for hours if necessary - hah!

I have traveled quite a lot, but surprisingly only a few trips I ever took were actually intentional - I mainly tag along or get dragged to places. But I am not complaining since the journey has been pretty pleasant so far!

I love all animals/creatures (dogs are a favorite) except the mosquitoes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a full time observer of social phenomena, I am not only fascinated by the idea of CS but also very intrigued by the connections people make here.

At first, I had a good friend who loved the experience and to be honest I was a bit jealous, and wanted to try for myself. Also another friend of mine who I love is an amazing host so I trust that there are some great hosts out there!

Interests

I am not really into sports but I don’t hate it. I am just not very “sporty” but I absolutely adore culture, history, mythology, psychology and philosophy. I am open to listening all new kinds of music and seeing talented people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a lot of different genres but my big love is for jazz.
My favorite movie was Everything Everywhere All At Once. I saw it thrice in theaters and cried my eyes out every single time. I can talk about it for hours.
For now, I loved "Crime and Punishment" by F. Dostoyevski but I love discovering all the other books and authors that international literature has to offer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travel through 3 continents, 4 countries and 7 cities in a week unintentionally was a good one!
