About Me
ABOUT ME
One of my greatest joy is to travel alone. The butterflies in my stomach as the plane takes off and I realize the only pillar of support I have is myself. It's fascinating travelling alone, with heightened senses on all that is around me because there is noone else to watch my back. The discovery of my strengths and weaknesses, the exploration of different personalities I take on, the drawing of similarities in character from what is familiar back home.
And one of my biggest take away from solo travel, ironically, is that I'm never alone. Cause the world is filled with a myriad of personalities, some good, some bad, but all beautiful and worth an experience. Glad to say, my experiences with good people far outweigh the negative.
On a day to day basis, I work part time at a wealth investment firm (don't worry, I'm not an advisor who will try to sell you products!), whilst pursuing a post graduate education full time. Surprisingly, I find myself with a lot of excess time on my hands, and am now filling it up by picking up Spanish. (Anyone who would like to teach/practice with me, HOLA!) I'm a natural extrovert, hence I bask in people's presence. But I do have my shy moments, usually around brains that are unparalleled to mine.
PHILOSOPHY
Attain self-love, self-worth and self-respect.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Not a very active member, but I do pop by CS events on occasion. I'm not very knowledgeable of Singapore's history or roads, hence I rarely offer to bring people around. However, I'm always up for meeting people to share and discuss experiences over food or coffee.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've surfed twice in Jordan and it was a spectacular. I slept at the back of an open truck, under a million twinkling stars, in the middle of the cold dessert, wrapped in blankets the thickness of a carpet. Was welcomed with open arms into a beautiful Jordanian family, and shared their day to day life on the Holy month of Ramadan.
Interests
Meeting people, old and new.
Eating.
Learning.
Discussing and debating.
Music, Movies, and Books
Oh I don't read books, watch movies, or listen to music. The inevitable latest pop song will somehow creep its way into my memory, but I don't seek any.
But I can watch documentaries for hours!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Took a bath with only 1.5L of cold water fetched from a well 20 mins walk away, overlooking an endless corn field under the scorching hot sun in a remote village in Uganda. The feeling of cold water on my burning skin and the beautiful unobstructed view of vast land is something I never experienced growing up in tiny urban Singapore.
