À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION
To discover, connect with and release the transcendent beings imprisoned with me. To find mentors and to be a mentor. To show others, while learning myself, how to see and walk the world differently.

ABOUT ME
Cheerful, curious, usually mindful, quietly passionate, deceptively funny, eternally surprising, ever evolving.

I'm happiest when in motion and exploring my surroundings, whether on foot, by bicycle, or by train. Lately I've been eager to go on more of a pilgrimage and less of a vacation when I travel.

As a guest I'm respectful, tidy, and health-conscious. Having lived in communal situations in the past (from being an intern and volunteer on organic farms), I understand what it takes to make a shared space work.

PHILOSOPHY
Always ask: "If I were on my deathbed today, what would I regret not having done?" Then go out and do it!

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

While WWOOFing in Canada a few years ago, the openness and generosity of my hosts left a deep impression. I'd like to be able one day to pay forward their hospitality by welcoming guests from around the globe as a host.

I'm hoping that Couchsurfing will help me to travel "close to the ground" and provide opportunities for unique encounters and warm friendships.

Centres d'intérêt

One of my dreams is to become a polyglot, to be able to say, "Take a load off your feet, my friend" in a half-dozen languages. I currently speak two and a half languages. It's a lifelong project.

Another dream is to become a musician. I can read music and play the guitar and harmonica at a rudimentary level. Another lifetime project.

Also:

Yoga. For the presence and sense of well-being it generates. I have done yoga teacher training and I will be a yoga instructor one day, lack of flexibility be damned!

Movement. Helps push against the limitations of my body imposed by too many desk jobs. Whether it's martial arts, stage combat, formal dance, authentic movement or contact improv, I've tried it or I'll try it.

Singing. I'll sing most anything, whether it's sing-along Messiah in a church, satsang in a temple, or Pink Floyd in a darkened bar with fifty strangers (I've done all three!).

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Music: Mainly symphonic and folk-ish rock. Recently I've been listening to the great jazz standards to expand my sound-world.

Movies: If I had to pick just one, it would be Man On Wire. I'll tell you why.

Books: Too many to mention (but if you ask me I'll try). I like to read extensively on whatever's obsessing me at the moment. Recently it's been Jung, mythology and the psychology of love.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

A solo bike tour of 3,400 km through Western Canada, starting in the Yukon. One slight (okay, big!) accident on the way, but still a fantastic experience.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

Why am I me? Why are you you? I'm curious to learn about the arc of peoples' lives, their joys and passions, the places they feel stuck in life, and the epiphanies that put them on the path to healing and transformation. If you're up for it, I look forward to lively evening conversations over coffee or tea as we ponder that eternally vexing question: What do you want to be when you grow up?

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

I've studied Holistic Nutrition in school, among other things, and I'm happy to share what I've learned from years of dietary (mis)adventures.

Tai chi, anyone? I'll show you the 108 movements of the Yang style. Or at the least the first few!

I also have a yin yoga practice that's oh-so calming...
