One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

this was from a the summer of '09 i spent in beijing -

a colleague had just gotten married so he had a wedding dinner sort of thing for the office. needless to say he is the quite type and his wife was gorgeous. everyone gave him a well done. even the boss.
anyways beers and stuff later. we left. and a friend from work told me later that it was around midnight. and she helped me get a cab. but kinda weird i dont remember that hahaha. anywyas all i remember was that i was trying to tell the cabbie where to go. and i think i managed to do so cause we drove off together.

this is probably the climax of the story

the next thing i know i wake up at china world office tower (the district is guo mao) on the street lying down on the floor god knows how long i was lying there. but i looked at my watch and it was 4am! a pretty scary thought... i look around and its deserted. thank god there were no other hobos other than myself. so i got up brushed myself off and started walking. still a little woozy, i stumbled for about a block and decided to sit on a planter box. then i thought yea this would be a pretty cool story to tell my kids some day. so i look for my ipod. oh wait fuck. where the fuck is my bag. oh shit oh shit oh shit! so i panicked for awhile and then retraced my steps.

i got back to where i woke up and there was my bag lying there untouched bathed in the store's light. it was a beautiful sight i tell you. luckily all of my belongings were there except for my phone which i must have had drunkenly left it at the restaurant (i got it back the next day hahaha. it was one of those small types with a bar sort of counter and some seating around back.) so yea i kinda stoned clutching my bag looking around for any suspicious looking people. although in all irony i was the only dodgy character around (messed up shirt). and my shoes were really dirty....i was wearing white leather that day. hooray hooray.

so i waited til 6 to grab the subway. this shouldn't be in the story but i guess i should tell it all the way til i reach home safely. so i was waiting for the subway. first one of the day. and there was this smoking hot chinese girl waiting right next to me. if i wasnt so icky and messy looking i would have probably talked to her. but no unfortunately i was not. and sadly i couldnt tell if she was looking at me cause she was well looking at me or if she was just looking at the messy guy after a night out.

so i got to the nearest stop closest to the highway back. and took 30 minutes talking really broken chinese to 3 diff cab drivers and finally one was convinced enough to let me in his cab. so off i went speeding off into the beijing sunrise.

might not be amazing to some. but it was pretty amazing that i was not hurt and that i had all my organs still intact 'p
